What time is it? Watches and horology

Yep, I've got the 36mm. My wrist's about 7" - I've posted a couple of pics in this thread.

Over the moon , we managed to get hold of another of these rather special pieces .

Wristshot. And now I’ve revisited it I think I like as much as the small second version, if anything it’s probably “cleaner”.

That’s almost as nice as my 50’s monocoque Seamaster...

But really. That’s a beaut, but way too shiny for my tastes.

If it's the same as the small-seconds case then the sides are brushed.

Yeah, mine wasn’t much more than your budget... there are a few on eBay and chrono24 - don’t really know of a ‘reliable’ source but I’d stop by antique watch co in Clerkenwell and see what they might have within budget 🤷‍♂️

Thanks for the tip @JB and @Sam_w Really like omegas, just worried a vintage may turn into a rather expensive project... is that unfounded? Any experience with the seller and/or servicing a vintage omega locally for a reasonable amount?

Admittedly not with servicing, but I have purchased from him. Item was exactly as described, shipping and communication were fast. Watch was probably ten seconds slow per day, but it was from 1952.. sooo... yeah. As long as you know what to expect when buying a vintage watch e.g. don't get it wet, timekeeping isn't gonna be amazing and so on, then I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Sure this has been mentioned before but what a peoples views on watches in regards to brexit??

Time stops for Britain... Putting us back to the 1970s... Retro is modern.

They'll get steadily more expensive as the pound sinks below the Euro.

@swedeee There are a few nice ones on eBay but I don’t know enough to buy one without having seen it in the flesh... I follow vintage watch shops on Instagram that are London based and I’m sure there are some good deals about.

Rolex are holding back all their stainless subs and GMTs and we’ll all get issued one with an engraved message of thanks from Vote Leave. Just the beginning of life after Brexit.

No I haven’t, the guy I bought it from had had it done a few months before my purchase as he thought it would help with the value, we negotiated down to what I think was very reasonable/my top money at the time... I did get a quote recently for the DJ and it came back at £800, but it was my dads (he has given it to my son/hidden it from my brother at my house) and has a Rolex movement and so I’d thought I should honour That maintaining the legit service history... I didn’t pull the trigger at the time but the Rolex elves did fix the crown for free and mend the bracelet so happy days 👍🏻👍🏻
