  • Yikes, the full grain strap is the best bit.

@Regal I’ve never seen the 321 and 861 next to each other like that, stunning. I don’t think a nice example pre-moon Speedmaster is within my grasp anymore, shoulda woulda coulda ten years ago...

In terms of value for money I feel 60s/70s/80s Rolex <£3K are great buys.

  • @Regal super interesting cheers!

  • The photo you're own?? Liking if that's the case, no pun intended.

I thought it was only minor changes of the movement and the smaller 34mm case size. There are both blue dial OP editions and slightly older Air-King blue dial editions too.

Just didn't really see why they made all so similar?? I guess in the current line up they are completely separated looks wise against the latest Air-King model with the black face, green of the logo, hand and smaller minute increments.

  • Not mine, but I like the steel dial OP36 a lot. :)

Yeah, I think they don’t know what to do with the Air-King name anymore. The current one is not a nice design. For a long while it was the non-chronometer-certified entry level version of the oyster perpetual (see @inchpincher’s lovely linen dial example). Now all Rolexes are certified superlative chronometers. Entry level is now the Oyster Perpetual, I guess the Air-King is waiting to be fixed, like the Milgauss.

  • Yeah I like the OP36 a lot too, especially the Red Grape. I like the detail of the doubled up batons and the richness of the colour, something a bit different.

Ha, waiting to be fixed. Hopefully they give it a place of its own in the line up soon and step away with something a little new but then this is Rolex. Yeah, never been fussed about the Milgauss.

  • Red grape? Silk Cut/Dot Cotton more like

  • Ha, Rolex innit. Fermented aubergine, Chinese plum, simmering blackcurrant.

  • For the record, I love that colour. Just makes me think of light fags is all.

  • Ha.

I saw someone wearing a blue/green/orange Milgauss on the tube this morning. It didn’t look good.

  • I think it would great though if there was a brand that made top class timepieces but the dial colours or references were really shit names, ha.

Like the GMT, "Oh yeah, that's The Four-Hander, in egg and cress"

  • The Milgauss always stood out to me but for all the wrong reasons. I could get on board with the orange bolt hand on a different setup though.

  • Oh we're posting OP36s? Ok then

  • Ohhhh! Apprently quite difficult to get hold of in that colour according to my local AD. Nice one.

  • The original Milgauss is arguably pretty cool. Would be happy to see them bring some of those design cues back.

  • It looks like an early sub that has had a fit!

  • What’s the bezel dial function?

  • I like that milgauss (blue and orange) but not enough to drop 7 grand on it though

  • I have never seen that bezel version before, bizarre. The 1019 is probably my ultimate grail.

  • Apparently you could get them like that or with a regular Submariner timing bezel. No idea what the ten minute unit is about.

Love the no lume version. There’s a JDM Grand Seiko that reminds me of it a tiny bit.

  • This is amazing, wish they'd do a new version of this. the green on the current Milgauss is rank.

  • Milgauss was intended as an engineer or scientists watch (as was the Railmaster), a timing bezel would actually make sense I think.

  • My new Seiko has reached the UK and has been presented to Customs, will it reach me in time for a Friday photo???

Obviously the answer is no chance.

  • had a google

    Didnt know about Railmasters

    Now keen, of course.

  • It’s why I bought one, really liked the history.

  • Waaaaaiiiit. That article says 30T2? So my manual wind basic Omega from ejay has the same base movement?

    Great!
