Fell from a bench in the bathroom which was a colossal 2 feet high. Placed it on my bag and it slid off landing on the face on tile.

Somebody once told me that dropping in bathroom is the number one cause of watch damage. Not sure who.

Didn’t one of those watch flipper websites that advertised in between the TdF stages have an ad with an ‘unloved’ luxury watch on the shelf in a bathroom? As well as in the shed or wherever... seeing it filled me with as much dread as watching G descend.

A colleague here had the same thing happen to his hulk. He said it was something like £2k to fix (he was insured though).

Won't be that much if its just the crystal. Can't tell if there is case damage from the photo.

Depends if there’s any contamination on the inside. Colleague said there were shards on the dial. Hulk has a date window so also a possibility of debris getting into the movement I suppose.

I think about half the people I know who've smashed watch crystals have done it by dropping them onto tiles in bathrooms/changing rooms.

I dropped my Straton Curve Chrono on my (concrete) tiled kitchen.
Landed face down but didn't smash, but now the second hand snags the minute hand when I start the Chrono.

Minutes doesnt affect seconds when its not running though.

Placed it on my bag and it slid off landing on the face on tile.
