  • Josh - I have a Seiko Military Auto which I really like. I'll bring it to polo if you want to check it out.

Timex do quite a nice Military watch too, Snoops might have one.

  • Well, the seiko arrived damn quickly. I'm not too keen on it though, it's jus not my cup of tea.

Will put it either on classifieds or t'bay.

  • getting a new strap, sadly not a MurtzStrapz (c)

    Nice, Panerai?

  • Anyone know anything about Lanco? Or better still ever owned a Lanco automatic? I believe they were bought out by Tissot several years ago but had a good reputation prior to that, Swiss movements. Were highly regarded in the 50s/60s/70s. But my knowledge is sketchy at best. Anyone else?

  • Yet another Seiko arrived in the post today. This time, it's a late 70's Lord Matic with the lovely 5606a 23 Jewel movement:

Unfortunately, whilst the dial and movement are like new, the glass face is quite badly scratched.

Anybody got any recommendations as to where to get it replaced?

  • These people:

Only deal with Seiko, they did a superb job on my grandfather's 17 jewel auto circa '71. The crystal on that was scratched to buggery (he was a gardener all his working life) and they asked me if I wanted it replaced. However, I just opted to have it polished as keeping the original crystal in place seemed important. I'm sure they'd be able to help you out.

  • ^^ Soul, how much was that mister if you don't mind me asking? I've got my eye on a late 60s Lord Matic and want to get a rough idea of how much it might go for. All in original working order, any idea?

  • I got lucky with mine and I don't think the guy knew it was one of the better seiko movements.

    I paid £35 inc postage.

I would say £75+ for a decent 60s example but it depends on so many factors. You got a picture or any more details on the one you've got your eye on?

  • After having the bracelet shortened to fit my weedy wrists, the chrono from the previous page has actually grown on me. Strap feels cheap as fuck but meh.

  • ^^ That sounds like a bargain! This is the one I have my eye on:

    I believe it's 1969.

  • Thats really nice. saw it on ebay earlier and had to actually fight the urge.

  • ^^ very nice. It's definitely a '69 and with the original band it looks lovely.

I can see it going for over £100 but I think it's worth it. Let us know how you get on :-D

  • Main reason I'm interested (apart from it being a rare Seiko auto) is it was made the same year I was born :)

And I always told myself that one day I'd get a nice auto from '69. Any ideas on what it might go for? Obviously it'll be a bit ballpark but still good to get a rough idea. £75 seems low to me, although I'd be happy if it did go for that!

  • Its not worth much, just depends on who's bidding.

  • T.S, thought you might like this... Notice how the buttons are on the left so they don't dig in to your hand when cycling. Win.

  • I've got my eye on this one which ends tonight: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280739831943&category=31387&_trksid=p5197.c0.m619#ht_16199wt_1302

It's currently at about a 5th of what it's worth.

  • ^ Very nice indeed, although there's something about the shape of the case with the Roman numerals that sticks a bit. Feels like the case should have a more classic shape. You putting a sneaky bid in?

  • ^ that's the 70s for you! I was going to put a bid but decided not to.... It went for only £163 in end. Total bargain.

Lanco is a trademark of the Langendorf Co., a watch factory in Langendorf near Solothurn in Switzerland. I think they were bought out by the Omega-Tissot group in about 71 and stopped making watches in 73, though the brand name was used for a while after that. But I've never owned one so I can't help much more than that.

  • Ugh, broken link... How's this?
