So...hmm. At what I paid, I wasn’t expecting the world. Could have been much worse. Dial looks way too clean for the state of the case, but maybe it was just looked after well.
Apparently it was serviced frequently, but I see only one inscription in the case back.
First horror was the crown is rubbed down to the base metal. Can live with it, but ugly.
Second was the movement felt loose in the case. Had a look online and read about the case clamps. Fortunately they are present, but the movement was installed onto the retaining ring incorrectly. In fact, the ring was just chucked on top.
Pressed the movement onto the ring and it fitted properly. Now the only sound is the rotor inside. Dial appears well placed in the case.
Suppose I’m spoiled now that I own two(!!!) Omegas, even if they are lower end models. This thing has a 552 which appears to be a pretty high end movement for a Genève. Maybe I should trick everyone with a Seamaster dial.

Really looking forward to having something nicer and mechanical again for office. Hamilton can't come soon enough. Just sitting down at desk + poor circulation = corpse hand

Very tempted by this, but it's very light on the wrist.

The daytona 'homage' is a little on the chunky side:

Nah the Steinhart, can't see it on their website.

I’ll wait to see it front-on, but it does look a bit of a chunkster. Odd choice of photo for its first sighting in the wild.

Any clues how thick it is? The 40mm one looks pretty high
-
• #31865
11mm, similar to a Rolex 1016.
The 40mm is thicker at 14mm, but it wears well.

The Steinhart appears to be an explorer dial in a submariner chassis - or am I missing something?

My only gripe with this is that the AR coating doesn’t seem to be very effective. Other than that, still smitten.

Depth rating is half the "target" watches, which seems odd.

Omega today on original 50’s strap.
(And yes, the original hands appear too long due to the MoD re-painted dials having a smaller print than original).

Apparently the actual WR is the same as the other 39mm Steinhart Subs - 300m. However they put a lower rating on the dial so it looks moar vintage-ish. Which is odd given, as you say, the 200m rating of the original Rolex.

Think I still prefer the Ocean One Vintage Red

Went and grabbed a new strap that would fit the original buckle. Timekeeping since being left is fine. Now it’s on a brown leather strap it’s growing on me.

That is one chunky boi.
Like a Daytona anime.
I haven't worn this for ages for some reason.
