For this one I'd prefer the original series.

Clean AF. Not usually a fan of B&R or that many different size numbers on a watch, but it looks really sharp imo. Love the 'floating' GMT hand too.

The shop selling the Ploprof that I have been looking at has just emailed me, they thanked me for the information that I had provided and have withdrawn the watch from sale pending further investigation as “we feel we have significantly undervalued it”, that last part a nice touch I thought.
In terms of age of dial, it’s all based on the depth marking.
The very first dials had no number, then it was at the bottom of the block of text, then it was in the middle, and finally it was in metres and feet.

To be fair if you had the one I have here I would have to order another.
And I would be crippled with indecision at the choice available so probably would never manage to choose.
This way its simple, I have this one. -
• #30535
Ha! That’s nice of them!
-
• #30536
Yes. I imagine they didn't want to write "We had told everyone this was completely original, but it's not, erm, anyway it's worth more than we said it was when we thought it was original but you can't buy it now, so there".
-
• #30537
Probably. Maybe they took a position of power out of being told they were wrong.
In effect you had all the cards and played them in the wrong order. Next time, now that you have a lot of research knowledge, you can go from a different angle, and after the further research, poo-poo the claims and sympathetically offer a lower price based on the information proving it.
Shame you couldn’t do this from a position of authority this time around, probably you could have gotten a deal, or at least the upper hand on the no-deal.

All good theory, but it's an average PP, and their are plenty of way better examples, which come onto the market fairly frequently..
If Dammit really wants one, put a WTB on the OF

I think it was them trying to save some face tbh, I don’t really mind- I found their response quite funny really.

Has anybody here tried to decase an old Omega cal 1375 movement? @rodabod maybe?
Just want to decase it so I can deep clean the case (this watch has been in damp storage for 30 years) and the movement seems to be stuck fast within the case. There are two screws that attach the movement to the plastic backing on the dial, but I cannot see any obvious fastening attaching movement to case. Just looks like it is a push fit, in a plastic movement holder.
Before I start using a bit of force, I thought i'd ask

Figured it out.
Oh wow, do I feel stupid!

Three-piece case front-loader? Do let us know! Looks filthy.
-
• #30543
Spot on. Three piece front loader. I tried to pop it out the first time but there was some nasty stickiness holding everything in place. hence my confusion.
It'll be a miracle if this thing ticks when a new battery goes in.
Case has come up a treat in the ultrasonic cleaner though!

Just for the record, in my opinion that watch was complete and, for a dealer piece, probably undervalued by about £2k

Which is the issue with vintage - on the one hand we have the man who literally wrote a book on the Ploprof, and on the other hand we have you. Who is correct?

You consistently ignore facts even when they stare you in the face, and on the odd occasion you might acknowledge that someone other than you might know something, you flat out refuse to accept you are wrong. Could you be any more ungrateful? I’ve again put work in to help you understand that this is a BLACK (not blue) D3 (not D5) and sent you several examples. Yet you feel the need to be ungracious and arrogant about it.
You’re only the second person I’ve put on ignore.

Looks like it’s not the chap who wrote the book then, it’s Freddo.
-
• #30549
Interestingly I never said it was a D5, if you go back through my posts you’ll find that I said it was a D3 black. I’m really not sure that the help I was offered (although sincere I am sure in a condescending way) was, well, very helpful.
That we both agree on the dials identity doesn’t stop it from being out of phase with the watch, according to the chap who wrote the resources you directed me to yourself.
Incorrectly answering the questions you think I’m asking is something of a theme recently, so to be frank it’s probably quite useful that you have me on ignore as it’ll reduce the signal to noise ratio in a positive manner.
