Yeah, 42mm is a bit bold. I agree.

Proportions are a bit weird for me...
The blank space under the hands is odd; could have moved some of the text from above the hands to balance it out.
The blue date window doesn't work; keep it simple with the bezel and second hand.
The minute hand is too long and overlaps the minute markers.I like the bezel, the lugs & the crown guard though.

I've got a Terrasport 1 Chrono and it is one of my favourites. Super legible and a pleasure to wear.

i have a weird thing for Rolex subs at the moment... Convince me otherwise...
Love the idea of the seadwellers but DAMN are they expensive for a slightly larger submariner...

I'm the same with Deepseas at the moment. As a lover of divers and sub owner, it feels rude not to.

Deepsea Blue is the sex!

I would want the Rolex sea-Dweller 4000 though.

Like a G-Shock, needs to have it's features emblazoned in CAPS. Dateless Sub unless you really are a very deep, deep diver.
-
• #27738
This. Dateless sub is the one...
Might be the next watch for me as it doesn't look like i'm getting a Daytona this side of 2030.

14060 seems like a realistic acquisition target. Often catch myself mentally selling off a few bits to acquire one.
-
• #27740
I honestly prefer the 114060.
~ the same price as the 14060, ceramic bezel, glidelock clasp.
Plus money is cheap at the moment so can be got with 0% finance at most watch shops too. No need to pump all your savings if you can afford a 2-3 yr repayment cycle.

Even then I would say, only if you need a sports watch. The explorer/air king/datejust is a watch for life. The sub gets less suitable the older you get!
A friend has a deep sea because he always has to have statement watch. It's just not my thing but it suits him.
Went for lunch a few months ago and 5 of us were wearing subs, 3 guys, 2 girls, all different models. No one brought it up, thankfully. I'm not a huge fan of the supercase/ceramic Rolex models, I have the GMT but prefer the sub most of the time.

I have an Explorer I (114270) already but there are times when the larger 40mm watch would be nice.

I know a few people who agree with you.
What I do love is the darker tone of steel that they used on my 116613LN. Somehow pulls the whole thing together for me.

116613LN
The only two-tone watch I would consider. Very jealous of yours.

There's a lot to like about the newer design. They're all lovely watches. I don't always wear a watch so I find the supercase a bit heavy. I never notice the sub unless it's really hot and my wrist swells. Then the GMT band is great, it has the cocktail hour extension so you can loosen it easily.

I agree with you actually. Its a really comfortable watch most of the time and the bracelet is incredible in quality but I do notice it on a hot day. At least the glidelock helps you adjust.
I'm wearing my Eterna 1948 Legacy today just to see if I still hate how it looks. Even if I do still hate its looks, I cannot believe how comfortable it is. Its like I'm not wearing a watch at all.
Its such a well designed and manufactured watch for the money, that its almost enough for me to forgive the brown dial.

You can't go wrong with the Sub, it's just as you get older it's a sporting look that still suits any occasion but is just a little less an older mans watch.
The other thing with the older subs is they look great when they have a little wear, slight softening of the case and bezel. I think the normal bezel watches can show their age a bit, especially a stretched bracelet.
One thing about the sub I couldn't get my head around when I first got it, from new the bezel had really clear machining marks on the fluting. It just seems really at odds with the perfectly finished case and attention to detail everywhere else. They're still there but worn a little from 10 years of use.

just bought a Steinhart Ocean One Ceramic to see if i like the style on my risk.

Got a Crafter Blue strap for my Blumo. Good fit, and seems like a quality item.

One more thing about the Rolex's that I saw before I got one and it turns out to be pretty relevant. They are like the tractors of the luxury watch world. Luxury tractors, robust, purposeful and built to last. There are plenty of watches that look better in person or pictures but they have a reliable quality that makes them easy to love.
I like it, would like it better if it were smaller. I'd probably get a different strap
