  • two things wrong with this

    1. colour, i want something with colour instead of black/white.
    2. out of budget :)
  • On a Felsa4000N (30j auto), how much disassembly is necessary to remove the dial?

Can i remove the hands and then just undo a few screws? Or do i need to pull apart the movement?

  • new

and after 2 years of almost daily wear

  • That keyboard really wore down flat

  • I have serviced maybe three or four felsa4000n and eachh time it was simple as removing stem, hands and two screws. Not sure if that applies to all watches with the same movement though...

  • Cool. Gotta remove and repaint this dial.

  • Very nice, I finally got around to trying a Moonwatch yesterday and ideally I’m on the hunt for a reasonably priced, good condition 1979. I’m 40 next year but I think the prices might go up with it being the 50th anniversary of the moon landing and all the press that’ll get.

  • I sadly found major scratches on my daily from my crash.

  • I love that literally no one in this thread has even acknowledged this video. Conversation continues about overpriced watches and the quality of keyboards lol.

  • I found it really interesting. But then my most expensive watch was £200 and can't really imagine spending more than that on one.

I thought he was pretty candid about his industry - made his insights into their product development/marketing etc that bit more compelling.

  • I found it embarrassing. I find this kind of cynicism and empty nostalgia cringeworthy (which isn't to say I consider myself immune to it). I think he doesn't acknowledge the nerds, probably because they represent a tiny fraction of the market. Yes, half of Porsche drivers don't know if the engine is in the front or the back, but a small percentage could describe the engine in minute detail.

I doubt anyone on the LFGSS watch thread is buying IWCs, Rolexes, Omegas, Seikos or whatever because they're high net worth individuals with money to fritter away. I bet these watches give some of us a headache financial. HNWIs probably don't even know what Hodinkee is.

I'm under no illusions about the role of marketing in the watch industry. Anyone who thinks you're paying only for the thing itself is daft. Clearly you're funding all this fucking nonsense and this IWC 'Selling Dreams' ruffle-shirted twat.

  • HWNI or not, when i see people shelling out thousands for a watch, that feels like a splashing around of cash that I can't fully comprehend. But then I can't afford to spend anywhere near that on a watch, nor am I into watches in anywhere near that level - hence why I found what he was saying interesting, if not comprehensive. He's coming from his own point of view so yes, the nerds aren't really a consideration for him perhaps. Actually the nerd factor is the allure that I would most identify with, I suppose. As a status symbol, I'd much rather a watch draw the eye of someone who appreciates it on a deeper level than just 'I've got this much cash to spend on a watch'.

(By the way - I'm in no way sneering at people who drop £££ on watches, I'm just illustrating my own lack of insight/experience/watch budget!)

  • Look at @Stonehedge's issues with the Tudor and its $150 movement.

  • A watch is a status symbol to many.

  • The right watch is better than any interest rate. A friend of mine has made 10k in a year on his Daytona. HNWI will always be intersted in this. That is why they are HNW.

  • Ha :)

If anything I think the video explained to me why you lose 50% resale value walking out of the boutique with a brand new IWC watch

  • What video?

  • click in reply to and it will give you the post with the video in it...

    sheesh

  • Bro do you even sarcasm?

    Sheesh.

  • Still looking pretty as ever. A new strap might be in order though..

  • I liked the video.

  • WOMW. My mate gave me this years ago. Made it from a kit.

  • Bro, do you even internet?

    Sheesh

  • Apart from the riva, it was about as interesting as a cpd on curtain walling.
