What time is it? Watches and horology

I've got a soft spot for these knowing that I'll never pony up the money for a real sub. How do they wear in comparison to something like a Seiko SKX?

They wear pretty big because of the straight lugs hence why I'm picking up the 39mm version.

Fit and finish on them is unrivalled in their price range imo.

I personally prefer the basic Ocean 1 but totally agree that the quality is right up there.

One of those watches that makes you realise that you were a fool for buying a real one.

Tldr, Rolex pinched the rotating bezel from Longines. They're all at it. And it can sometimes be beneficial to a brand.

Also, hand on heart, there is not a huge difference in build quality been an Ocean 1 Red and a Sub.

2824 Elaboré-grade is pretty damn good. Same as in the Sinn 556 etc.

Yup, keeps good time. Don't really need more than that.

I've had mixed experiences with th Ocean 1 range. All good, some better than others. This one is the best build quality Imho.

The only thing that is unarguably superior about the Rolex is it's incredible bracelet clasp.

That's the one I own. I do like it very much.

I’m very happy with my Ocean 1 Vintage. It did let water in when I first got it and it had to be sent back to be repaired but it’s been great ever since.

I think I'd like a vintage Seamaster 300 and then stop scratching this particular itch, lest I find myself Smaug like atop a heap of cameras, pens, watches and car keys.
