I’m going to join the SKX013 club, before I go to Creation does anyone here have one they want to part with?

Who wrote that 'article'?

Who knows.... it’s all a bit dodgy.
In that article, the text, “In a watch forum it was pointed out that the movement ring might have been installed the wrong way around during the last service. I have verified this info and it appears to be true. Note the half-moon-shaped screw marks near the casing screws at 4.30 and 10 o’clock. Basically, the movement ring was turned 180 degrees.”.... is a reference to comments which I made. Look closely at the brass ring for two other marks. However, I’m not convinced this brass ring could be rotated by 180 degrees as there is usually a cut-out in the ring for the stem to pass through...

Took it from a body or a POW?
Given it comes with a bit of the guy’s wetsuit, I’m going to guess he was dead at the time.
Edit. Read the story now - didn’t think you could steal things from POWs,but hey ho.

On the other hand, if you're a live German frogman who's just been pulled out of the water by a bunch of grumpy-looking blokes with rifles, you're not really going to be in any position to complain about them taking trophies. In that context the marking of the caseback seems plausible, if only to claim the watch?
Setting the authenticity of the watch aside, that's an interesting story; I'd not realised that German combat divers had been active in (more or less) inland Europe after D-day.

Would it still have fetched that much without the story?

Who knows. It’s a much smaller market when you get up to that price range, and it takes two bidders to make the final price.

Terribly written all the same. Does seem very dodgy all round.

The movement ring can easily be rotated 180 degrees as it has a slot for the stem and an additional slot on the opposite side to be retained within the middle case.
Best,

I followed IWC on Twitter yesterday. They're pushing the hashtag #ENGINEEREDFORMEN
They really seem to be the only mid tier luxury brand who are cringeworthy and spammy with their social media. Its like they are selling hair loss products or deodorant, not luxury watches.

Put on the ETA movement Stendardo auto today. Definitely got an issue that needs a service.
Gaining seconds across the day. From August til November/December it never gained/lost enough to notice, but now it is clearly running fast.
It has been left for a month or so, so should have demagnetised or whatever else if it was so simple a problem.
Tempted to move the adjuster inside a fraction, but fear it will knock it all out of whack.

Get a magnetism app for your phone if it can do that. Or hold a compass next to it and look for attraction.

Like so?

I enjoy wearing t but it really annoys me that it is a slightly different tone than the watch case despite being sold as being made of same steel.
Bought it through Yorkshire Watches, it's this one I think
