Just saw that and thought Hodinkee were trolling with some dropshipped Aliexpress monstrosity!

Sounds like an affliction...

I love Hodinkee, but it's such a slick package that sometimes you just forget that it's an industry blog. I came across an almost great Montblanc dual time today and they were so soft and on it. It almost sounded like they hadn't even edited the copy MB's marketing department sent over.
@Ordinata - yeah I thought that was a bit cheesey

I really like that. Saw a number of similar vintage cases in Italy in the Mercatino dell'Usato shops, but that is almost 'it'.
Edit: just saw the Hodinkee infomercial blog post, shame that they are not both screw-down crowns. It may be unnecessary for most use, but I prefer the security of that bit of twist.

Funny you mention the AHW one. I have been lusting over that for ages and also have been seriously considering one with the NE15/6R15 movement. However no way I could pay that sort of price, especially considering import charges and postage. As such been looking into 62mas dials too. Saw this before xmas. Regret not snapping them up.
While looking around for more dials, I found the watch on eBay (won on auction, from the Philippines!). Price inc postage inc import charges came in under 150gbp. Well chuffed. It looks exactly like the AHW one, though the crystal has a cyclops lens, which is a little unusual. Also, it is in used condition(9/10).
Here are a couple of pics from the listing. As far as I can see there is no chapter ring. It’s difficult to get a picture of this space but it looks like the dial just comes right up to the edge of the case. If you can get a dial it would make a nice project. As some point I might try to replace the movement with a 6R15…

These are very circa-late-60's Dynamic esque. I like them.

They have a funicular.

Woolwich Arsenal on the DLR then no more than a 668mi walk...

What did you think of the watch?

Cheers, that's much appreciated.
I keep wondering about getting a dial or buying one like yours (or ideally a Sxk015).
The things that put me off are not knowing how the chapter ring will play out - ie will it look a bodge, and what the dials are like in the flesh.

Just announced at SIHH, JLC ‘Polaris’:
Correct me if I’m wrong, but at under £5k this will be the cheapest JLC (that isn’t a quartz Reverso) available, competing with the Explorer, Seamaster, Railmaster, Mark VIII etc.

I love internal bezels! And JLC!
-
• #25344
A short while back I was asking after an internal bezel, and now pages of them..!

That JLC looks great. For a similar, much cheaper reissue, the Longines Legend Diver is very nice, and very good value.

I'd like to echo that recommendation. a close friend of mine has had one for 4-5 years. stunning watch in person and extremely well made. looks good on a nato too

Oh on (January) sale locally I saw a Casio Pro Trek reduced to £200 in the window display. I believe it was this one:
Seemed pretty interesting. I appreciate the G-Shock is the go-to Casio for ridiculous size and strength, so what are the hive opinions on Pro Trek?
All the G-Shocks seemed a bit plastic and naff in comparison.
(Image is 1:1 scale, this thing was huge)
Edit: It's the 1ER not the 7ER whatever that difference makes - http://www.watchshop.com/mens-casio-pro-trek-alarm-chronograph-watch-prw-2500-1er-p99943629.html

I like my Pro-Trek, although it's a bit less busy and slightly smaller than that one.
They may not be quite as tough as a g-shock but still plenty tough. Compass is occasionally useful, I can't say I use the altimeter or barometer much.
