Any suggestions for thick, brown leather straps? Preferably tapered (22mm at lug to 2omm at buckle). I'm struggling to find much, and what I'm finding often is a bit too red or thin, I'm thinking more distressed leather kind of style.

Somewhat busted, in the pile of quartz that the girlfriend's brother didn't want - he already claimed the blue dialed thing above

Can you get a fake Tudor black bay?
Edit: Homage... found Tiger, Parnis etc... meh...

Definitely a wind-up one way or another, but mostly it was left to languish with the battery operated machines.

Sounds like a job for Murts
Drop him an email / check the JPW leather works thread -

That's the style I'm looking for but he only does straight, not tapered.

Why would the Timefactors Smiths Everest that someone linked to earlier sell on eBay for a good chunk more than new? They're still available as far as I can see.

Different watches. That one predates Timefactors buying the Smiths brand, being made in 1957.

They couldn't be more different!

No Stonehenge, Inchpincher has a point. The original item was a Timefactors watch, which sold for £380 - see pic below.
Someoneshould tell Eddie at TZ-UK to put his prices up ;-) -

Aaaah, I missed that it was a "similar item".
Apologies all round.
Weird that it was a private listing with hidden bidders.

I think they are sold out?

Still waiting on the reissue of this from CWC. Got an email yesterday about the RN divers being back in stock, but holding out for the reissue

I bet these will be very expensive since the originals are now very, very pricey.
-
• #23471
I doubt they will put that much of a premium on the standard diver. Maybe 15-20%.
-
• #23472
I'd much rather bang one of those CWC divers than one of those Frankenstein Tudor things...

Tiny wrists or giant watch? Can't see the strap, bruv!

I do really like the Junghans white face telemeter but this was 1/10 of the price and offers urge satiety although I've got to stop dipping into my 'proper watch' fund or I'll never buy my first grail.
Re the Smiths Everest, it is now showing as sold out but I'm sure it wasn't during the auction as I checked. And it's not like he won't ship abroad... weird. I won't be selling mine though, all this talk made me put mine on the bracelet that I'd never got round to adjusting, it's reassuringly heavy.
I really like that.
The girlfriend just pulled this out, was her grandfather's. She told me it needs a new battery. Facepalm.
