  • Sounds like a bargain to me.

  • Yeah, would have thought most Tudors would appreciate...

  • good to know, if it is legit that is as @Ordinata queried

  • Black bay BLACK is the one holding its money as it was only around for a few months before withdrawn for new "in house" with the new dials. I don't think all stockists got their allocation before it was killed.
if you bought a black one for £ 148o that is a real result.
but even red or blue is a great price for what is a fabulous watch . my colleague has a blue one and it is really lovely.
NOTE I have decided not to sell mine as I am sure I will regret as values are sure to raise.
( selling off instead an Omega , Longines pocket watch and my NOS victrinox Divemaster)

  • Apart from the Royal Oak Offshore...

    Na fuck it.

All modern AP and PP are munting.

  • The new Timefactors PRS-42 is a nod to that watch.

    Quite tempted to be honest.

@ejay Can you post a pic of the Divemaster please?

  • I'm a sucker for the movement. Its a modded version of the first one I learned to service. Its a beauty (unlike the ones I have touched).

  • I really like that. Very nice indeed.

  • i found a couple of old Seiko's in a cupboard, given one to the ministry of home affairs, the other needs a new crown.
Will any old watch place have a replacement crown that can fit or are they individual to the watch?

  • The Aquanaut is still in production, 5176A is the current non-complicated "gents" model. Currently around a 6 year waiting list for the compound strap version, less than half that for the steel bracelet option.

  • Got an aerospace itch

  • I must try that.

  • Ejay and others. I'm fine with you posting your own eBay links in here. Discovery is hard otherwise.

  • It should be a "Japanese type". They have a rubber gasket on the pipe where the stem inserts which deals the pendant tube from water ingress. Unique to Japanese watches.

If it's a cheap watch then just get anything that fits.

  • Patek Aquanaut

    Funny how collectables go.

I'd think most half decent / non-fugly Pateks will hold their value. But I can definitely see logic that the Aquanaut's rep as the poor man's Nautilus resulted in lower volume production, sales, and run-life. All of which makes it more likely to be seen as a desirable collectable.

I'll be honest though, after seeing on in the flesh the other weekend I thought it looked a bit meh. Whereas the Nautilus just looks right.

Edit: seen its still in production. General point still stands 'do.

  • Thanks for your help!

It was a £20 eBay punt I wore for a week then forgot about.
It needs cleaning up, and the crown replacing, I'll have a go at sorting it and see where I am at.

  • I paid £1,900 for mine (on a strap) new which I think was a couple of hundred lower than list. I've seen them on watchfinder (obviously there's some haggle room on there) for £2,000+ so seems a reasonable deal.

  • Many consider the Tudor the 'poor mans' Rolex , but some highly regard it

    Wasn't trying to be snobby.

I think referencing Tudor sort of makes my point. They're a cheaper version made by the same company. Not wanting to be too cynical but I'm going to guess their sportier image comes from marketers trying to attract younger people who won't pay Rolex prices and/or see the brand as too old fashioned.

I'm not old enough to remember when Tudor first came out, but from what I have seen old ones have only recently started commanding high prices - to the point that second hand both Subs cost the same.

  • He gave me more info last night, it's a Black Bay Blue on a strap. Looks really nice. I think he's planning on selling his Sinn 356, DA46 black, Nomos Orion 38 to fund a Speedy if anyone's looking for any of those 3?

  • I think the Blue was out for longer than the Black before they switched to the in-house movement so probably not quite as rare. Prices still seem to hold up well though.

  • nowhere near as rare as black . super watch tho at really good price.
