Definitely welcome. Rare indeed. Get on that if you're after a Max!

That seiko is a real classic.

This thing has come to my attention in the search for a plain tool watch in the 37-38mm ballpark. Not an explorer but not a million miles off. I actually prefer it over the black bay 36. Similar in spirit.

Is that a 556? I'm in love with mine.
-
• #22581
Yeah, 556i. Do you have the same one or the version with 12,3,6,9?
-
• #22582
I've got the same one, bought it on steel but its currently on a black leather strap. It is by far the most legible watch that I own.
The only drawback for me is that it doesn't have any magnetic shielding so I have to run it through a degausser once a year or so to get it back on perfect time.

If it's any consolation it's probably threadlock.

I really need to see one of these in person.

Popped into the Omega shop on Oxford St, no Railmaster yet - and they don't know when they are going to get them, which surprised me somewhat.

You're very welcome to come and see mine although you'd have to come to SE10 for it.
-
• #22590
SE10 is doable... That sound like a plan.

Has anyone had a Seiko modded? And if so what sort of cost was it? Say dial + hands.
Cheers
-
• #22592
dial and hands wouldn't be worth paying someone to do vs. the cost of buying a couple of tools and doing it yourself imho. I did my FFF without any prior experience save for strap changes, and it greatly increased my confidence in tinkering.

Maybe buy a cheapo watch to practice with 1st

• #22594
This watch is brand new and for sale at £700 BIN which is about half of the new price.
It looks legit APART from the fact the tags seem to be for a different model watch, i.e the one without the carbon dial.
Tag says T36BK44LR but should read T36CF44LR
Either its a bargain or dodgy as fuck.
Not the prettiest but £700 isn't bad for a 7750

Got this from someone yesterday, so much nastiness on the old bracelet so put that Nato that I hate on it. Fallen in love, really, I think I'll invest in this a little and replace the crystal and stuff.

I like that a lot. Makes me think of old JPS and B&H fag packets.

Aaah, lovely fags.

Dust and waterproofing are the main off puts. I should have bought (or at least bid on) the skx031 / 62mas I posted a couple of pages back.
Anyways going to buy a standard skx013 and if I like it maybe one of these at some point:
also really liking their "ultimate 009"
Saphire, handwinding, Hacking, etc.
And this one... https://youtu.be/crxkqvxVsMI

Re that Torgoen I posted on previous page. Turns out that its just a shittily overpriced watch.
Manufacturer sells them for £1400, they change hands for less than £500 on eBay.
Turns out £700 is a shit deal but not as bad as if you paid full price for it.
Hopefully it's ok to post this here - If anyone is looking for a max bill watch SCP have a sale on at the moment - don't usually see these discounted (or at least not by this much)
