Having said that, buy your bro an airking 5700. They look the bollocks and are also increasing in value as Rolex stopped making Air Kings with date windows a while back...a good one is a collectors item.

I think it has been discussed before, but proper birthdate watches are a bit of a lost search as it's often hard to pinpoint manufacture. With that in mind I'd include a year or two either side in your search and not get two hung up on the exact year.

It's started to fracture along its edge.
Anyone know of a reputable, reliable place in london to get it replaced that don't overcharge unlike Mappin & Webb (I've had some awful experiences with them).
