  • I'm struggling to find a decent tan strap for my IWC. I need a 21/22mm with an 18mm taper to get the buckle on

  • speak to Mark (who rides the custom Demon bike). He put me on to an excellent source for copies that are in all the cases I saw identical to the 'badged' ones.
I'm starting to wonder what the point is to spending big money on a watch that has a label but isn't hand built or anything.

    None whatsoever.
    I don't believe for a second that a £300 fake is worth even £100. More like £30.

But the vast majority of Swiss bling is just a standard movement in a nice case and not worth the thousands it costs either

It's why Tags get looked down upon, and why they have recently started making their own movements again (and adding a thousand quid to the prices as a result)

  • Some stuff is just special though

As they used to say "Tested in Geneva, tested in Houston, tested on the Moon."

  • None whatsoever.

so for me the queston will be, there is not out there a watch with that standard movement but without any branding???

  • Some nice looking Seikos.. this one, vintage Tuna, at ~£450

    Seiko Ananta

    £2-4k

  • those tunas or hockey puks are loverly, they do a newer model

Seikos, as other people say.If you want a new watch.
Alternatively, buy something from the 1960s or 1970s.
Three of my Omegas were less than £300.

I'm not a fan of the looks, but love the Citizen Eco-drive technology. A battery that will never run out, go flat, dry out, charged by movement, light or sheer determination, and you can even get ones that receive the radio time signal so will never need adjusting.

The Omega 861 movement is based upon the Lemania 1873, which went in a fair few watches before the Swatch group restricted it to just the Omega Speedmaster

Cheapest option has to be this NOS chronograph.

All wank. Might just get an official IWC black kevlar...

You want one of these straps?

  • Same colour and stitching but I want NON croc

  • ....kinda like this

  • The Strap Shop . co .uk

  • Thanks. Just looked, some nice bits

  • I have a strap exactly like that one you've shown there Graham, except in dark brown. 22mm. I have three straps for TSS and they're pretty good and pretty damn cheap.

  • If you want a look at mine gimme a bell (not a euph)

  • Yeah mate, they seem OK(ish) for the price

I might go for this strap actually, bottom one

Looks OK on a solid face chrono and think it'll look ream on my black faced(racist) 3717, like above - #1890

  • ....hopefully the 'buckle end' will be small enough(18mm) for me to put the IWC buckle on instead of the wank stock one above

  • I'm not mad on croc unless it's the real deal myself.

  • True...

It's much easier to get sex from other guys who are in the know.
Bit useless when you're straight, though.

  • back to replicas for a second -I think some people might be surprised by the quality of some of the reps available for not very much money. I got this one I got from MilitayTime.
I made the strap with an old swiss ammo pouch and a few tools off ebay.

  • Here's one (can't find clearer photo at the moment) - Patek Philipe replica.
It was so good, I sold it for £90 (as a replica of course)
