  • Black and gold - for octogenarians with 20 year old Russian 'girlfriends' :)

  • Was STS terrifyingly expensive. Any idea of their starting price for a service? The website's very cagey.

  • Would have been about £500 but as I run a large jewellers and do a lot with them was mates rates . Having said that the reason I do so much with them is they do an absolutely fantastic job particularly on anything Omega. I wouldn't use anyone else.

  • Bunch of pussies. It's gold on gold on gold or nuthin'.

I'm saving for my graduation watch (2017) at the minute, but as soon as I've got that, my 50th (2029) B'day President fund will start.

  • If, you have to go gold....

  • That's what I was afraid of (price and unsubstitutabiliy).

  • Now that is Saville.

  • If you could see the before and after on my speedmaster mark 2 then £500 doesn't look expensive. It really was a battered piece of watch shaped metal, and came back like new.

  • Saville with a tinge of Harris.

  • Fuck me that is lovely

    Damn booi!

  • Hopefully in time (when the mortgage defaults) I'll get some more back. :o)

  • Did someone say octopus?

  • Obvs a ladies watch, Michael Kors collaboration? #lel

  • Strong work! Happy with it?

This is the one that will undoubtedly be hailed as 'the classic Pelagos' the one to have in time to come. Unfortunately Tudor have mucked it up with the new one, don't get me wrong it's still a lovely watch but doesn't have the same simplicity. And of course, an original will always be an original ;)

  • Yah, got 2 weeks grace to make sure, but it is very comfortable. Not an everyday purchase for me either. Infact it is a latent (6 years) engagement present of sorts. 😀

  • I'm sure and it looks beautiful. Thing is with my one, there's nothing especially wrong with it except the damn bezel fell off. It's down a floorboard somewhere but I don't know which one. Given a replacement goes for about £350 it threatens to turn into the last scene of The Conversation (minus the saxophone). I was wondering what kind of mark up they STS had on parts. Because if it's like the £400 minimum for a service offered off Bond St plus £350 for the bezel then we're right into replacement watch territory. (I think it was bought for $1,500).
    I'm scared.

  • About £20 for a generic bezel, or £200 for a genuine one at Cousins. Chronograph service should be about £120 upwards, depending on who you use. I had two 1940's Lemania chronos recently serviced at this price each.

  • Double trouble :)

  • All the Tudor love here had me curious so I went and tried on the Pelagos and the Black Bay on today. I'm still undecided at which I prefer. Any tips on the best place to purchase one? With the euro buggered can a deal be had on the continent?

  • This is stonkingly lovely if you like yellow gold (I do, though I would't wear it):

  • Cool, so is this you putting your money where your mouth is with regard to its future collectability? Good work. Will you be keeping it utterly as new in a box somewhere?

It's too sporty and sleek for me but such a great 'timepiece' (pukes) for loads of reasons.

  • Indeed it is. I'll be keeping it as it currently is, unworn with all plastics etc.

The other one has become a daily wearer.
