  • Yeah, that doesn't help.

  • I need your help with some recommendations for a PVD or DLC diver or military spec automatic, preferably on a bracelet rather than a strap. Rolex sub copies don't really do it for me so what to go for?

Let me know your thoughts. Budget is flexible but nothing over £1.5k. Not a snob, happy to consider lower end watches if the build quality is high for the price.

    Thanking you! :)

  • This, or the non-UTC version for a few quids less. Buy 'em here. Its not a diver, or a military watch, as such, but it is a definite instrument watch.

  • Love it thank you but not quite what I'm looking for. Hmmm, might go for plain steel and the Bell & Ross Officer...

  • good choice...

    Youre a good son

  • Or if plain steel is an option, then save yourself a bunch of cash and go for: http://www.cwcwatch.com/royal-navy-automatic-nondated.htm

And then find yourself a suitable aftermarket bracelet.

  • Am I wrong for liking this:

Starting to get tempted by a smart watch damm it!

  • Good grief that's lovely! Got a link Mr?

  • It's a Seiko Marine Master, or more commonly known as the Tuna...

    HUUUUUUUGEEEEEE

  • Oh! Big humungous no good good :(

  • For a smaller diver (37mm) there is the Sinn U200 SDR with the black hardened bezel:

Though in my experience Sinns tend to wear a lot smaller than typical watches (40mm is my ideal, but happily wear a 44mm UX which on the wrist looks/feels about the same as a 40mm Submariner). If you could get away with the 44mm case, then there are all manner of Sinns that are technically awesome (oil filled cases, argon filled cases, copper sulphate absorbancy capsules, tegiment hardening for parts) as well as being different to the usual Rolex-a-likes.

  • I quite fancy this.

  • from here

    this i love

  • Buy whatever you want and get one of the independent places to DLC it for you. It's a totally reversible process if you ever want to go back to the watches original state. I have a friend who runs a company which does full customisation - including DLC.

  • ^^Bloke on another forum just bought one of those. I started as a hater, but have slowly come around to the Nautilus, but I think that's by far the ugliest variant.

The linked pictures though are what sparked my interest in AP. Not my usual thing at all, but this got stuck in my brain and has been festering there ever since.

  • Save for a Sinn....

  • I've had loads of Steinharts.

    They're no Sinn quality...

  • Friend of mine has a stunning B+R Sinn Space 2.

Currently going through the motions as it's totalled and needs a new movement.

Looking north of a grand in repairs.

    Live by the sword etc.

  • Thanks for the pointers re. Sinn am seriously considering one of these. Not too shabby for around 1.7k:

  • I've got one of those, got it on now in fact.

I bought it a few years back from another forum. It came with the leather strap though i've always had it on a nato. Actually, my one has the plain steel body and outer bezel. I love it, i've hardly taken it off since. Needed a service a year or 2 back which Sinn did and it was about 180 euros or something.

I really like Sinn; they're proper under the radar. There's a really nice 'flatness' to the 857 face and I like the super slender seconds hand in the pretty brutal case.

    B.

  • Just put the money down on a Sinn. Can't wait for delivery!

  • Sinns are lovely, almost bought one myself a few years back...

  • I have too many pieces now. Omega x3, Tudor, Junghans, Grand Seiko, plus plus. Should stop.
