get it sorted soon so that the condensation doesnt transfer to the movement and then subsequently rust. i dont think there is a ball park figure for that sort of thing.

just find a reputable place then and take it in. Ok. Cheers.

phone a few places and tell them what watch and model. if they have a glass in then it will be cheaper than a place that has to order one in. this is the impression i got when i needed one replaced recently.

I'm thinking of getting a Junghans Max Bill watch for my birthday, torn between these two at the moment.
Can anyone comment on the quality of them? I know they aren't high end but £400-£500 is still a pretty big chunk of cash so want something which is going to last. Any recommendations for good/friendly shops in London which stock these?

for 500 pounds, i'd buy a good second hand watch.

When I first saw the above watches a few years ago they were around £300, think you might be right Murts in sight of the new prices.
Recommendations on similar looking watches for less cash would be ace.

They're not bad (a bit boring) but the typeface is fucking horrible. It looks like a building society, especially with the ringed ampersand.

*only it won't be waterproof though

I just looked through the whole thread, might go for a Seiko military with a new strap (similar to what Superprecise got), will be able to do it for less than a oner, automatic and will worry a lot less about breaking/losing it.

too much $$ really

Your call. I wear a £600 watch every day and have never regretted it. I worry about it less than cheap ones, but I know it won't break.
-
• #1443
Not really much to think about really, it's just too expensive for me at the moment.
-
• #1444
thought you said it was going to be a present? The problem with spending that much money is thinking of all the nice bike bits you could buy instead.
-
• #1445
I thought it was cheaper (last time I checked the prices was a few years ago), it's cost is greater than the present value, I'll get it one day.

Had a boss a few years ago who used to collect Rollex's and the like.... he swore by:
http://www.blowers-jewellers.co.uk/new_watches.htm
....and would never ever buy a 'new' watch, there being so many available 'unused'... and you save on the depreciation.

hi all,
First post in this thread. I turned 30 last year and my mum wants to buy me a watch as something to remember the year yada yada.
I love some of the watches here but am not very knowledgable.
I have seen this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110591352985&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
Looks gorgeous and a safe bet - any thoughts on it from you Seamaster experts?
Ends soon, so any ideas are welcome.
As a reference she's very generously given me a budget upto £1k. I don't feel good spending so much of her money, so would like to find something I can cherish and hopefully keep for a long time that's less.
Thanks,
Kam
The glass front of my rotary automatic has cracked, now it's all misted up with condensation. Can i get the glass replaced? Any ball park figures?
