  • Lol

Not my style slain. Not a fan of the transponder bulge. And breitling dials are normally to busy.

  • Looking for some suggestions for a watch for my missus. Decided it's time to buy her something nice, and she agrees.

She's an architect and likes minimalist, Bauhaus-inspired design, so a Junghans Ladies Max Bill is on the cards. I'm semi-reluctant to spend that much on a quartz, so what automatic or hand-wound alternatives should we be looking at?

  • I really like the smaller Nomos watches. There are a couple around the 33-34mm range.

Well made, with a really clean design.

  • Right, replaced my battered vintage Seiko 5 with this one. Really chuffed - much nicer than expected and half the price.

  • I like that a lot...

  • At first I thought it's bit boring and small (when compared to your average footballer slash estate agent huge clocks*) but in the flesh it's both discrete and shiny shiny.

*) autocorrect forces me to say "cocks"

  • If it didn't have the Solar legend on it I'd give it 10/10 wrt the dial... Not crazy about the case but it hangs together really well... Nice...

  • Went for the solar one, because won't wear it everyday. Might get another automatic if I find one pre 70s

  • I was tempted by SSC81, but it's so big. Found an ex-display for £100. Would be nice with Murtle's strap. I'd give that little Solar to my dad - bought him a gold Seiko 5 for his 70's birthday, but he moans that if he doesn't wear it every day, he has to set the date over and over again. Some people are just ungrateful :-)

  • I'm of the opinion that chronographs are even more pointless than your bog standard automatic man-bracelet... I don't see the point, other than they've got loads of buttons and look dead sexy sometimes... i.e. GothSpeedy

  • very tasteful watch eei, nice

  • We're at war right now, hence the chronos

  • i found this in a box of old broken watches at a flea market today. gentle polish of the crystal and a plain black leather strap will see it right i think.
im having a bit of a problem uploading pics so i'll add some at a later date. sorry

  • Liking the shiny black Seiko solar.

TS, Have you fitted that ceramic bezel insert yet? It gives a similar kind of discrete shiny shinyness.

  • Man-bracelet team photo...

  • What's the first one?

  • looks like a bell&ross a little

  • Ollech & Wajs 3095, if that was at me...

  • nice

  • Yup! Nice one.
