those dials while lovely in their own right, look a little busy for a gentleman of advancing years.

How about an Omega with a legible dial?
Which model does he have?
What's the budget?
-
• #1381
Budget up to 400 aud or 200 GBP.
His omega is about 70 years old I think. From his Dad, all gold (real plating eek) Probable too valuable to wear everyday too. but really thin hands. looks similar to this:
I'd love to get him another but the I'd also love to get him an old SL pagoda roof merc! thats has a clock I'm sure...

I have bought 2 old Omegas for £200 each before. It is possible. One was the Constellation F300 and the other was the Geneve. Of course CoppiThat gets them for a fiver, the jammy sod :-)
If you avoid the "famous" models and just pick a watch you like you're more likely to get it for a low price.

BQ - Any update from sending your Omega watch off to get it repaired?

Nah, I'm so unorganised. It's still sitting there. I need to send the Speedsonic to my tuning fork man for a service too. Been meaning to do that for a year.
But you have reminded me, so thanks.

Yeah, I know. I guess I meant that he doesn't like to wear it all the time as it's sentimental and monetary value mean that it's not suitable for wearing while working in the Nursery (garden centre) getting all scratched up.
I remember as a kid when our family had zero cash dad nearly sold it to cover the months rent... luckily that didn't happen.

go for something with a scratch resistant crystal so that it can be worn and allowed to age. i think your great grandchildren will appreciate it more knowing he wore it day in day out...... and it never let him down. just a thought.

i've inherited an old rolex watch from the 70's. anyone got an idea whats its worth and where i might sell it?
Rolexes of that period are usually only worth ~£15. I will give you £30 as i am a very generous person.

Watch for my Dads 60th.
Alrighty... Thought I'd ask here before making any purchases.
My dad is turning 60. He's been complaining that he cant read his Omega anymore (plus it seriously needs a service) because the face design is too fine. As part of his gift I d like to get something legible, classic and reasonably durable. He's not one that likes super chunky "sport" style things at all.
Ideally, I know he'd want a watch with numerals on the face but a nice one is hard to come by. Also limited budget! An Omega Seamaster would be ideal (nearly his age!) but a little expensive for a good one.
Here's what I have found so far.
or in a white face
and
or
maybe
Thats enough for now, but I'm struggling to think of brands within my meagre budget to suit! I made the mistake of looking at the IWC site first
Cheers chaps!
