What time is it? Watches and horology

All in the wrist though, isn't it? A 42mm looks absurdly outsized on a dude who has frail, bird-like twig-wrists like most of you milk-drinking bedwetters, but on a man like me, who has arms like socks filled with coconuts, I could pull a 49mm off without thinking twice about it. In fact I probably wouldn't even think once, making me pretty much the definition of IWC's target market on that one.

Don't suppose anyone would know what Customs Duty and Import VAT would be on the Pebble?

With the two classics I bought last year I got away with none.

In my experience of importing things from the USA however I have found it to be luck of the draw. If it gets picked up on then the duty levels seems to be random and decided by the hangover level of whoever intercepts the package.

I paid twice as much on one Timbuktoo bag that cost half as much as another one I received a few days earlier. Luck of the draw.

Lovely. This guy sells a large number of very nice watches at various prices, I get emails from him occasionally. No idea how (if) you can know that they are not franken though.

Don't really like any of those three. They look cluttered and a bit cheap, which I've no doubt they probably aren't.

Bit of a random derail but its a plug for Alsal watches so I thought I'd put it here.

The battery on my casio watch died a couple of months ago and I finally took it to a watch repair place this morning to have it replaced. They tried to charge me £13.95, which is a joke considering the watch didn't cost that to buy in the first place. Where can I go to get it done cheaper than this, or is it perhaps possible to do it myself?

Looking to get my missus a little watch. Something a bit simple like some of the older USSR watches posted last page, or one of the cheaper Junghans* that float about.

Any other brands I could look out for? Or anyone got anything?
