  • does manchester have a critical mass?

  • yes. last Fri of each month at St Peters Sq.

  • it's a shame i missed the november one because i won't be able to go to decembers (if it's on). hopefully i'll make it to the next one

  • In order to continue our Earn A Bike project we are looking for more donated bikes. These bikes shall be saved from landfill and mostly used in our Earn A Bike program with adults and young people from marginalised groups who couldn't otherwise afford a bike of their own. Some of them will be recycled and sold affordably to help pay the projects costs.

If you have anything to donate please complete the donation form

  • In case there are any budding road / crit racers lurking on here the Tameside League kicks of again on 17th April.

New for this year is a non league race at 8.30pm ( yes we have floodlights) for 4th Cats and Ladies.

BC membership is essential - Racing License can be bought on the day - usual BC fee applies.

Any questions drop me a line!

  • Fixie Prize anyone?

    http://www.buxtoncc.org.uk/MTT.html

I have been asked about a "fixie"
prize, there will be one organised if
    we receive enough entries indicating
you will be riding a fixie bike.

  • You would have to be mad to ride the mtt on fixed - its not like a Hill Climb where it can be an advantage - more so a hinderence on the descents !

  • yeah, was thinking the same, but if prize on offer and level (but hilly) playingfield for all on fixed maybe worth a go. If not fixed am considering "athletes" setup.

  • ^ any excuse to avoid the clip on tt bars...

  • did the second www.northerncoffeetour.co.UK ride today, great fun. more in future for sure...

  • It's not polo though.

    But cools all the same

  • oooh Buxton sounds hellish. Who else is coming?

  • when?

  • ^ April 6th need to enter by march 23rd tho I think.

  • polo folk will be busy that day.

  • Very busy evening.

  • ^ Go to bed you've rode into Salford and back that's ages for you :)

  • T'is.

  • **Ride to the Pace Egg play Manchester to Heptonstall Good Friday 6/4/12
    **
Meet at All Saints Park, Oxford Road (next to MMU/opp 8th Day) at 9am

Every year we have a ride to the Pace Egg play in Heptonstall.

We ride on roads until we get to Castleton near Rochdale and then we amble along the side of the canal.

We ride at a pretty relaxed pace and still get to Heptonstall in time to watch a couple of the plays.

It's a ride suitable for all kinds of bikes. The canal path is hard/concrete type stuff that I've ridden only on road bikes. Also as a lot of it is canal tow path much of it is flat, though there is the little hill near boggart hole clough on the way to Castleton, and we usually walk up the steep road to Heptonstall.

Usually people get the train back- less to do with being tired from the ride and more to do with alcohol consumption!

Shocking abuse of a half decent incline! ;)

  • ^ did you do the Ronde v.o.l. last saturday? It goes up there with photographer to catch the grimaces... did it last year was great fun.

  • @rothers. I quite like riding up that hill but many people come on bikes that have only one gear and as such find it pretty tricky esp when you hit the cobbles.

  • ^ solution: get gears, bloody hipsterer than thous ;-p

  • ^ solution: get fit

  • Fuck that, fuck youth.
