This sounds great Nes.
Unfortunately I work some weekends and this coming weekend happens to be one of those but I'll be looking forward to future rides.

oh I'm away in snowdon this Saturday anyway i meant starting 25th march.
Road Rides every last Saturday of the month
Meet 10.30am at Unicorn Grocery, ChorltonThe first one after the winter is gonna be at a pretty relaxed pace. Maybe building up to longer slightly faster rides as the year gets on.
ROUTE: http://bikeroutetoaster.com/Course.aspx?course=210020
56 miles. Pretty hilly, would be tricky without gears.Route ok?

Could be up for some of these from June onwards.
-
• #655
Oh you people and your gears :( I'd really like to do more rides with other people, but it seems everyone just wants to go up massive hills all the time
-
• #656
100% in for more road rides now. I'm not getting any milage from my new flat, and the Colnago needs to see more street.
-
• #657
Any of you folks ridden up The Rake (Ramsbottom)? I headed there from work this evening, was tough as it's 1 in 4 but not too long. Didn't make it on the Brompton last year, but with proper gears and big wheels it was much easier.
If anyone fancies a ride up there sometime, let me know. I might go and do a few laps which include it each time in prep for Fred Whitton.

Any rides going on near central Manchester this weekend? I mean hills aren't for me right now.

I like the way it says mostly flat and then says Swiss Hill !!!!!!
HAHAHAHAAHHAAHA...try that fixed
(13-14% in places + cobbled) -

i was gonna say after looking it up i must say it must be teh cobbles that make it hard, in lewes teh road form teh station to the highstreet is half the lenght and about the same % and i got up it first try, ok i died at the end. but did it SS can't be THAT hard can it?

cycled through lewes 2 years ago. thought i was very nice.
I'd love to go on a bike ride, but only have a fixed wheel bike in operation atm. wouldn't mind something a little easier than the ride Nes has suggested, if anyone knows any good ones? -
• #663
Head towards tatton park or dunham massey. pancake flat pretty much for both.

I live round the corner form Swiss Hill and I reckon it's 20%+ in places (where there are houses are on the left about half way up). It's short (only takes a couple of minutes) but it's brutal, especially if the cobbles are damp. I wouldn't want to do it fixed, struggle on my road bike.

looks uncannily like the Muur at Gerardsbergen in Flanders

Nes, you still on for Saturday?
-
• #667
Still on this Saturday Wayne, Nes wasn't 100% whether she'd be well enough, but that was last week.
For anyone else reading this is a 60 odd mile ride out to the Cat and Fiddle and home via Whaley Bridge. Meet 10.30 @ Unicorn grocery in Chorlton on 26/3/11.

Awesome, looking forward to this.

Sweet! It's been ages since I did any miles.... and hills. Time to get the wax out.
-
• #670
time to get the polo bike out Yawn!
-
• #671
The cutter now sports a set of mudguards and some cut-down drops. It's a shadow of its former self, now used for getting to work and back as the winter wrecked by Bob good and proper.
Once I've got myself a commuter again I'll poloize it and it'll be up for sale! My polo days (and knees) are long gone sadly.

Wayne, sorry I don't think i'm gonna be able to make this one. will see on saturday morning but it's unlikely. should be fine for the beer + deer ride on sunday though (breathing only really bad when exerted) if you fancy coming along to that as well.
-
• #673
Can't do the Sunday but see you next time nes.

Some son of a bitch was HAMMERING on the doors in my block of flats between 1 and 3 this morning. Couldn't sleep, and consequently missed this ride. Not happy.
-
• #675
i missed it too as my larger cog kept slipping and didn't fancy hills with a 77 GI. (read: too lazy to do 60 miles!). But will probably do the deer and beer ride posted on http://www.ibikemcr.org.uk/ tomorrow. looks like a leisurely ride, more my thing.
Had a few requests to start the Saturday rides again. Maybe start off doing just once a month for now as it ended up being just me + ronnie which was lovely but maybe less often would equal more commitment!
last Saturday of the month?? 10.30am??
What do you think?
