  • Raiding and Pillaging is my speaciality..

and tame forum plod. Happy to give police related advice...Not that I'm guaranteeing you'll like the advice but it's available anyway!

  • I have always found kayak.co.uk to be very good for finding cheap flights to the states. Not sure how good it is for other routes.

  • has anyone ever applied for Lasting Power Of Attorney or have any knowledge of the process?
My mum is v ill and I have to take over her financial matters.

I have dowloaded the forms from the govt website - around 40 or so pages - but it's complicated. Cost to do it yourself: £120. Cost to get a solicitor to do it: +/- £1,000. aaaaggghhh!

In return I can ply someone who helps me with wine! I'm at stevefletcher7 at googlemail dot com

  • Anyone know of someone that can sharpen knives/blades?

In need for my Cut-Throat Razor to be sharpened. I've not got a honing slab yet.

  • I'm pretty sure there's a Knife Lover's thread, or something like that. Started by a chef, and incurring my not insignificant ire. The loopy cants on there should help you no end.

This is a bit of a specialist job, especially if it's a hollow-ground blade. I've sharpened many knives in my time but I wouldn't be confident sharpening a straight razor. Are you sure it needs honing and not just a go on a strop? If you don't have a strop you can do a similar job with a wad of old newspaper on a cushioned chair.

  • I see there's now a music list too so may as well put down my secondary occupation just incase someone might be interested; Salsa DJ

  • GA2G Cheers I'll have a look around for that.

Definately needs to be sharpened properly. When I got it for Christmas I thought you use the leather strop to sharpen it, which er, blunted it because I used it quite incorrectly.

After some research, I know bits and bobs what I'll need.
I did buy a stone brick, but ordered the wrong one and it's too weak to hone this kind of blade. It's more for safety scissors or something. =) What a waste of monies.

  • i can also skin road kill for you if you true my wheels.

I'd have thought that somebody with road kill would be requiring wheel truing, not offering it

This was done a few years back for an elderly relative as part of a will writing excercise by a local (Welling) solicitor. I don't remember the actual cost but it was nowhere near £1k. It was however done as a precationary measure for the future and not as a necessity so costs may differ in your case (making assumptions here about your mother's condition).

Edit - Looks like it all changed in 2007 and got dearer. Some info. here - http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=730511

  • Mac hardware geek . . . can diagnose then sort out pretty well any hassle; have a complete set of official Apple diagnostic software & manuals going back 20 years.

Also decent at sorting OSX & networking niggles.

  • I'm a 3d designer specialising in exhibitions and events but also do furniture and interiors. Currently thoroughly miserable in a full time job and trying to escape to go freelance/ to new company. Any contacts or interest in such a service much appreciated, especially north such as Manchester (am currently in London) as am planning on re-locating in summer.

  • some of you know my day job is photography (some of you i have had the pleasure of working with) i mainly shoot still life but do have an interiors/furniture client.
i'm looking to shoot more but don't have a full portolio mainly due to the small number of interesting locations i get to and the area that my main client works in, i'm looking to increase the interior work but don't yet have enough high end work to match my still life (until i do it will not be on my main website)

if you work in the interiors/furniture/hotel/office world and have a project you would like photographing then get in touch. i'm not looking to shoot for free for large clients but if you feel that we could both benefit from a shoot then i'm interested to hear from you.

here is some of my work to so you have some idea of the standard i work to.
i'm not a weekend warrior with a DSLR, been in the photography game for over 10 years.

  • I'm a DJ, Promoter and Handyman. Based down in Brighton. Have just started my own night down here, last Friday, and always looking to DJ. The handyman side pretty basic, but I worked as maintenance in an activity centre for 18months so I have a good understanding of a lot of 'odd jobs'.

  • MrSmyth, they're a bit boring. Can't you add some hipstermatic filter or something to 'em.. you know.. spice 'em up a little?

  • They're too slick. Can't you put them in your massive messenger bag and make them crumply?

i can do pics of my friends in awkward poses and call them 'fashion' too if you like

  • Now now. Be nice G. :D

  • A few of you may know that I run a software business in my spare time, but I've never mentioned it on here.

We've developed a DMX lighting control package called Chameleon that runs natively under Apple OSX. It's based on an old-school stage lighting desk interface metaphor, and supports cue stacks and keypad controls.

We have all sorts of people using it at the moment, from professional lighting designers, numerous colleges across the US, churches, and quite a few DJs. It struck me that there might be a few people on here who might be interested.

You can download the software and try it before you buy at www.maclightingsoftware.com (our web site). If you do decide to buy, I can offer a forum discount.

We've also designed and built our own USB-DMX interface, which works with a range of Mac and PC software packages including Lightfactory, Freestyler and others.

If you're interested in any of this, drop me a PM.

  • this list still active?

  • <-- Official government artist; I draw the dole..

  • this list still active?

Its active insofar that anyone can look at the list, and choose from any of the members their for required services. If it wasn't active, it would have been closed...and deleted.

  • Can anyone recommend a plumber for a job in N1 ? Only a small job, probably less than a days work.
