I've hit 55mph a few times on Tytherleigh Hill (A358) near the East Devon/Dorset border on my road bike. Its about 1/2 mile long and really steep. Its an easy and relatively safe spot to do it though as its dead straight with a nice gentle uphill run out at the end, no need to use brakes.
Ive never been much over 39mph on fixed, far more scary.

car drivers will always overclock your speed... most cars are calibrated about 5mph slower on their speedo to keep people within speed limits... if a car clocks you at 30mph chances are your going about 25 or 26 in reality.

What are realistic speeds at Herne Hill in a sprint?
I've used my speedo a few times but it didn't have the sensors so it was using GPS which spike a lot and not that accurate for sprints and stuff. It had spikes of 44mph occasionally which I know are totally wrong but also some more leveled spikes of about 33/34mph, are they realistic speeds?
38mph in a sprint is good going for Herne Hill. I've gone over 40mph indoors (just).
[Both based on Speedo top speeds, I have no idea how!]

It is usually a % thing rather than a set number. Real speed 70 - speedo reads 77, Real speed 30 - speedo reads 33.
Best to use sat nav for real speeds (you can then go a bit faster than you thought!) -

32 mph pedalling like a madman and maybe a slight tailwind.

I'm sure we've been through this before.. I am faster than light.. I hit 80mph walking for the bus.. blah blah..

I've done 40mph on 67.5", but it was downhill. hippy is my fucking witness.
I also spend quite a lot of time doing about 4mph between efforts. That's a bit spinny, as you can imagine.
It is true.. I was staring at his arse all the way down..

Reached 73kph on a long straight bit with an incorrectly calibrated speedo in the Beacons once. I love watching scary movies.
I'm sure you do.

50 mph on the road bike
33 ish in sprints on the track bike, thats 130 rpm on my gear so most likely i've done that both indoor and outdoor!

11 sec 200?
Top, not sustained. My speedo said 40.7mph top speed at the last Newport session. Properly calibrated and everything!

I hit 104kph on a nice wide and very steep ski slope.... shat my pants - the wonders of gps!
In reality you were going much faster as the gps would have been measuring your speed as if you were moving on a flat surface but you were going downhill so would have been covering much more ground, this of course depending on the degree of slope as a quick sketch of a triangle would prove, thus your pants should have been well and truely shat in...... Tommy! Damn, there's never a mathematician when you need one..... and breathe
