you are a comedy shagger/funny fucker

  • my flatmate was playing my spare wheels in our front room just the other day, true story

serious note, read Sheldon Brown's article.

  • Laced my first wheel build last night but was hoping someone could put my mind at ease.

Build is a Surly front onto a Rigida Sputnik. The old rim got wrecked so put the old spokes on the Sputnik (same ERD so re-using spokes). Taped the rims together and just moved the spokes over.

All spokes are approximately the same tension. Whilst getting to this point, a couple of nipples suffered stripped threads and the spokes popped out. There are about 5 threads of each nipple showing but on the old rim there were no threads showing at all.

Compared to other (well-built) wheels I have, the spokes are not producing the same tone when plucked - they should be tightened. However they are definitely not loose and the nipples are not 'easy' to turn.

I should just tension the wheel in small increments right and not worry about the previous stripped nipples?
