Going to Kew Gardens tomorrow, anywhere near by recommended?

If you want a bit of tea and cake, the Kew Garden cafe near the station is okay.

The food available in the gardens themselves is not bad, but it's pretty expensive. If the weather is nice, I suggest bringing your own picnic.

Edit: They have opened a new "proper" service restaurant called The Botanical now as well. I've only had breakfast there, but it was good. You'd probably need to book in advance for this one.

you could try here, might be a bit pricey, have been to chez bruce down in wandsworth which is really good, so assume this is of a similar quality.

Went there a couple of years ago, can confirm is very very good.

Oh my god! That's a blast from the past. That used to be a really grotty music venue. Several friends' bands played there in the mid 90s.

The Half Moon in Herne Hill was similar, but I haven't been back there since it got flooded. don't go to the half moon, now a fullers pub and the service is bad, if you're going for food, and not much better getting drinks in.

speaking of herne hill, give milkwood a wide berth as well, used to be good, now diabolical. @citron warned us, did we listen?

food quality has nosedived. ordered a salad and it was just a middling pile of julienned carrots with a few other mystery veg slouching about. fuck all tomatoes. who makes a salad without tomatoes?? it cost 9 quid. the kitchen staff looked bored and pissed off.

Llewelyn's isn't that bad, went there directly after it opened, food was decent to good, price was just steep, and not a price that I'd want to pay on a regular basis..

The pricing is offensive. Also their breakfast offer is woeful. I can't be arsed to go back.
