Recommends for something cheapish and sociable in Dalston/Highbury/Finsbury Park?
Got a vegetarian so mangal and Max's probably out. -

House of Momo dumplings in Dalston - cheap, delicious, pints, great, basically no negative points.

Perfect, nice one.

I went there a few weeks back and ordered all the types of momos, there are no bad ones. It's such good value and the staff are lovely.

To be fair to them, it's a Tibetan dumpling shack, so the fillings are a bit different, there's a couple of delicious curries on the menu too.

Yeah, it's not your normal polished hipster joint. You get left alone and it's not "try-hard" at all. It reminds me of the momo places I went to in India.

Been to this place a few times recently and it's been tasty, although service is sometimes a bit average http://www.standard.co.uk/goingout/restaurants/passione-tradizione-restaurant-review-the-passion-is-alive-in-n15-a3432116.html (it doesn't seem to have its own website).
Impressive Italian, I'd opt for the pasta rather than pizza, in a not very lovely part of West Green Road (an Italian deli has opened across the road too, looks like gentrification's next target).
