i reckon its on the greenway ! sounds like good fun.
am i right ?
where is the meet point ?
-
• #54
Is up on the Greenway...just need to figure out if we meet there or somewhere nearby and move up on mass.
Location is great but might need a more accessible point to meet up for those less familiar with Hackney

Er, I thought there are no "street" lights on the Greenway. If we are doing this at 7 in February you'll need decent lights to see the path?
-
• #57
Where is the fun in being able to see where you are going?
-
• #58
there were definitely lights up when we went up there last week

I'm not scared, you don't have any pedals...
You will note the mechanic working on the bike..

I use the greenway every day to get to work. Gustav is right there are lights From fish island to the railway bridge ,but nowhere else. there is also a personnel entrance to the olympic site right on the greenway (like right on the path) between these two points, along with security guards at the entrance who may take offence to racing past the site door, assuming they are still working. not sure what time they knock off shift but I've been through between 6.30 & 7 before and they have still been there - but it's dead quiet at around 9 with no-one about except "hoodies" bunching around light poles selling suspicious substances......

The Greenway is not in Hackney ... :)
And yes, lighting has recently been installed there. There will be further upgrades in the course of Olympic work, as the Greenway will form part of the main pedestrian access route from West Ham station.

Hey mark, we can be cheerleaders.
But not in a Grease/annoying fake 'fifties' style (see photo above)/psychobilly/rollergirl way. Just with cans raised.
In! (although your definition of cheerleader left me little choice).

you'll need one of those el-cheapo dual-suspension, ahem, mountain bikes and ride it reeaall slow to join their club - somehow I think your fast fixie is gonna confuse them....

We chose that kind of time, because there's less likely to be people walking along there. There's only a couple of access points onto the greenway in the bit we're looking at, so as long as we have a few people making sure no one's coming, we'll be all good. We're going to have radios and all that.
The security guards don't have to like it, it's public land. Not public land for racing bikes on of course, but as long as we're not dicks about it it should be fine.

This sounds like fun, but I only have one gear and it is < 70¨, which is not too drag friendly. I might just rock along anyway and walk the DFL home.

I wish I wasn't moving the day after or I'd be there (to put it another way, I wish my girlfriend hadn't banned me from going out on the night before we move in together)...
Would have thought that for 250m a spinnier gear would be better... over that kin of distance I'm pretty certain that I'd go faster with 60 inches than 70...

The part we'll be on has been redone. It's the part nearest to the park, up to past where the Olympic stadium is.
Just have to point out to everyone, if you're expecting grandstand seating and thousands of watts of floodlighting, you're going to be disappointed. If you want to have a laugh, drink some beer and fuck about on a Friday night, then this is the 'event' for you.

Hmm, I don't think you're taking this East End hipster shit seriously at all. It's all about the looks...
