  • Shouted at you a handful of times on big bob. You likely didn't hear me over the ringing in your ears.

  • Thanks - crowd was tres bon

Kids on the hill thought my bike was 'peng' so mission accomplished

  • That was mega, basically started at the back, felt my way around the first lap then go stuck in. 66GI was spot on, would do fixed again.

Nice to put a few names to faces.

  • Peng

  • the only way

  • Where are the results posted?

  • Hah you turn up once and get series points - I turn up four times and get zero!

  • It's a shame that they can't find a way of calculating that. Maybe something like the old Parkrun points contest would have been good.

Winner gets 100 points, second 99, third 98, and so on, for each race (start at a higher number if you have more participants than 100). Then tot up the total over the 4 races. If you showed up and won every round you'd have a score of 400. If you showed up for 2 rounds and came in 15th in both, you wouldn't necessarily score higher than the person who showed up for all 4 and came in 25th in each for example (170 vs 300).

  • Yea - for a fun series it seems to me a bit odd that they chose to do top 20 scoring only. Maybe it's a BC thing. Anyway plenty of other rewards like good company, great courses and good racing.

  • Cross doesn't really count before September 1st.

  • Made this handy map for the London CX league where I will be practicing my nonexistent CX 'skills'.

  • You need to sync that to the rail works....

  • Tubeless tyres. Talk to me.

My experiments with using non-tubeless Contis without tubes went wrong, so it's time to do it properly. Clement MXPs seem to get good reviews but are out of stock in lots of places and £45 each in others.

Any good alternatives? Ideally something intermediate that'll be a Jack of all trades, and something that won't disappear in one long Kent lanes ride too. If I'm being really picky, tan walls would be good too, but I know that's rare with tubeless.

  • WTB Cross Boss?

  • Is there any proof that you raced @amey, apart from your appearance on the women's results?

  • Nah not really. I just went around the circuit on my unnecessarily expensive cross bike.

  • Have Clement started making tubeless specific tyres yet? I had some but they burped regularly and, from reading around, this was a common problem.

Personally I'd go for some Vittoria XMs. They are robust and can cope with flinty Kentish bridleways, are capable in most conditions and run tubeless without issue, at least in my experience.

I rate the Specialized cross tyre range too, although their tubeless ready versions were like hens teeth before.

    There's some Tracers here.
