  • London Summer Series dates are out, including two training sessions http://www.summerseries.co.uk/

    Starts in a months time!

  • Thanks for posting that JC - glad the series is going ahead again this year. I really enjoyed last years' series and it's good to see some training getting chucked into the mix.

  • Entries for the 3peaks are open: http://www.3peakscyclocross.org.uk/entryform.htm

  • Infact, here's a flyer

  • Here's an out of date flyer for the 3peaks

  • Signs Ramaye up for the Three Peaks

  • Wish you could, they keep turning me down. I reckon they're scared of me since my not quite last in 2008.

  • I'm planning to race the summer series, after a miserable failure to get to any races over the winter. Just hoping I can get to bethlem in time on Mondays. Leaving farringdon at about 540 it might be difficult depending on traffic.

  • You should be fine, Rich. That's most of my commute and it takes me 40 mins to get home, and Bethlem would be another 10 mins max. Races start at 1915 so you should have a good half hour for sign on.

Rollapaluza CC are hosting the first one, I'll ensure we keep sign on open for you.

  • Thanks Andy. Would you care to share which route you take to get back ? PM me if you prefer.

I actually paid my membership for rollapaluza this weekend, so if i hear anything back and am given the opportunity to buy kit, I'll race in rolla colours.

  • Not sure my bike will be up and running for the summer series.

Still aiming for Muddy hell to be my debut

  • Thanks Andy. Would you care to share which route you take to get back ? PM me if you prefer.

It's pretty straightforward - Blackfriars Bridge, St George's Circus, E&C, Walworth Road, Denmark Hill, Dulwich Village, Forest Hill, Sydenham then Beckenham. To get to Bethlem, continue from Beckenham to Elmers End, then head up Upper Elmers End Road to Eden Park, then right at the roundabout to Bethlem.

What size jersey are you - I've a supposed Medium Le Col Rolla jersey that is too small for me, might fit you?

  • Cool. I will have a play on google maps and see what I come up with from those cues.

jersey-wise, I usually wear 'small' but it depends if the jersey is sized for race whippets or regular people. Worth giving it a go I guess!

  • Getting to and from non-local cyclocross races without a car / van is a pain.

Would anyone be interested in a group van hire or even purchase?

If so drop me a PM.

  • As an FYI, Howard, the London League will be hosting races at 3 new venues (Bethlem is one) this year, all of which are inside the M25 (well, nearly).

  • Cheers - that's good news.

  • Actually, most of the race dates are up on the BC website already;

    https://www.britishcycling.org.uk/events?series_id=291

  • Starts a bit late (end Sept) with a big gap between rounds ten and eleven. Another league where vets get hived off with women and juniors, not so bad but only having a 40 minute race is annoying when the timings would allow for a longer one. Chance to double up though with Vets at 12.30 and seniors at 2 for a double DFL.

  • The first round is due to run on the 8th of September but may not go ahead now (as Shaun and Jason said last night). It's on the Falmer Park course in Brighton.

  • I like the idea of a seperate vet's race, it means you can compete on a level footing with everyone else.

That said, I see Matt Seaton's back in the UK and Darren Barclay and a few other good riders are moving up to Vet status this season, so the level of racing is going to be very, very high (assuming they ride the vet races).

  • Training session tomorrow night at Herne Hill- blow off the cobwebs! Only 1 week before the first race.

  • Is the training suitable for a complete amateur with dodgy knees, and no stamina whose only off road experience is one aborted off-road ride to Brighton?

  • Of course

  • Might have to swap the tyres over during the day tomorrow.
