And it begins

The left side of the bridge is steeper than it looks in this photo. Possibly too steep. It will have a hessian covering and wooden batons across it to try and make sure it is rideable. Hopefully it is, if not then lesson learned for next year and it will be the same as the other side.

Do riders get a decent run at it? If so, then it should be rideable by most.
-
• #5580
The run up is not the best. There is a 90 corner maybe 10 to 15 meters away. And judging by my trainers after today it's going to be muddy, very muddy.

Should be ok...is the mud clay? This is in Herts, right?
-
• #5582
Yeah, sticky clay mostly. And yep, in Herts

It will be fun then...alas I'm riding some loam elsewhere :)

Who's doing incredibly cross?
-
• #5586
Incredibly cross? I've just hit town to start my crimbo shopping, I'm fuming.

That time of year
-
• #5588
Are you? I'd like to, but realistically I'm not going to be able to get to Stratford any time before 1945. I'm going to go and laugh at mucky stories in LMNH with @General_Lucifer instead.

That should be fine. At Muddy Hell one year there was a very slippy corner no more than 10 metres from the base of the ramp and if you got the power on out of the corner you had the momentum to get up the ramp.

That was awesome and also terrifying!

• #5591
Dunno. I really really should but mtb race early tomorrow.

I got up and over the bridge in both directions today. Just. I think the batoning that we have done is probably less help than we first thought but if you end up running it it's very much needed.
I half apologise to anyone racing tomorrow for how horrible it's going to be.

Hope it went well today @Dry - some good results from forumites from what I've seen.
GB's young riders continue to shine, Tom Pidcock won the u19 WC round at Namur today, with both Ben Tullett and Ben Turner in the top ten. Reigning u23 women's world champ Evie Richards was 11th in the Women's race (with Nikki Brammeier 8th).

Incrediblycross was awesome

Yes, central today was a great course. Some technical bits, not too muddy, some slippy bits and the flyover was great. It was nice getting a different Christmas song in your head on each lap as you passed the PA too. Thanks

You're flying at the moment by the looks of things.

Thank you. Always want better but yes, pretty happy with the finish to the year

Was spectating today in Namur. Shitting hell. The stuff they ride up - and down.
There's abseiling ropes for spectators to navigate around the course! That's how steep it is! I'm not even over reacting that much. Would have quite liked a spin round the course, would have probably died. -

It does look brutal, and I think the tv cameras make it look flatter than it is. That long downhill off camber section that caught Wout out twice today is especially mental.
soz :(
