Sunday - Herne Hill, right?
Fingers crossed, I'm in. Vets race for me though.

Got the outlaws visiting so can only make one, would rather race Sunday but MK easier and quicker to get to from North London.
Decisions.

• #1054
Sure. I take it you're familiar with the route from the station to the venue?
Yarp. Think the train times are changing this weekend so times I suggested are not available. I bought an off peak return for £15.

• #1055
Done also.
There's a train at 11.20 and another at 11.43...

I thought we were doing groupsave?

Sigma Sport still have the tracers at £27.49 each. I glued my first pair over the weekend and will race them this weekend.
I've been very happy with my Fangos, used them in a variety of conditions for the best part of three seasons without any problems. They struggle in thick mud, like the Regionals at Bethlem last season, but that's their only limitation.

Howard made a decision to go for individual tickets since no-one but me and him has confirmed interest yet...
I have a railcard so it's like £9.50 return. Kind of a no-brainer.
Apologies dimi if you misunderstood.

Done. They're good enough for the two of you, they get good interweb reviews and that price is just too good to turn down.
I have the clinchers with limus/mud2 fitted if it gets really muddy.
Now I need to look at glue and stuff. That tub thread is very road-centric - can anyone point to a good guide for a beginner?

I'm on my phone, but search cyclocross magazine (cxmagazine.com) for the Belgian tape method.
I use Vittoria Mastik One glue and jantex tub tape. So far I've not rolled a tub.

I used three glue layers on the rim and one on the tub on the tracers. But my rims are wide major toms.12 hours between each application.
Three layers of glue and a layer of tape on the limus on narrow crabons. This is the Belgian method.
Vittoria Mastik will do either. Make sure your rims are spotless - acetone the muck off.
Might actually race on tracers this weekend - difficult to motivate myself though when the tubeless were more than adequate last weekend.

OK great advice, I'll look up the Belgian method.
How long are the valves on the Tracers and do they have removable cores?
-
• #1063
no belgium has ever used the belgium method
-
• #1065
do not use continental carbon glue. Vittoria Mastik is perfect.
-
• #1066
Yep this. Does both ali and crabon rims just fine.

30mm and they have removable cores.
Although I'd recommend the topeak adapaters as they can be removed / retrofitted and don't require tape etc.

Cheers Howard. They came today and are stretching on some old clincher rims at the moment.
Still waiting for wheels, glue, brushes etc.
Anyone spot this on UKCycleSport?
Might help plug the whole left by muddy hell.

I think I will race my 1st tmw.
If all goes to plan that is. -
• #1072
Good luck H!

Remember a good 20-30 minute warm-up (a couple of laps in increasing tempo if possible to train on the circuit).

Well I was really pleased, but just checked the results and have somehow lost a lap on someone who I rode with/against the entire race...
Feel a little confused... so sent an query.
Only got lapped 1ce as far as I can remember, so a little gutted to be docked a lap, unless I've just got it wrong...Met Dave in B.C. Jersey who's just moved up to work at Mercian, great guy.
Great day. Knackered. Just under 55mi ridden in total...
Also I'm really, really shit in the woods.
But fast on the grass- got a mention on the tannoy as after being overtaken by lead rider, I managed to pull him back on the way to the finish, was very pleased with that. -

Where did you race? Well done on your first go. Getting accidentally docked a lap is pretty common. Hopefully they'll tidy that up for you.
Central League round ii today at Milton Keynes. Circuit mainly involved climbing in and out of the MK bowl - could have done with a 28t. Was gridded but had a terrible start and spent the race making up ground, which was nice. Some tricky singletrack sections caught a few riders out and there were some good spills.
Good to meet [Cup]Cake[s], again, and to see some familiar faces in the Central League.
