Cyclocross - CX and SSCX races and training

Weather warming up nicely - rain , and cold … !

Don’t sweat it, it’s very much a social event and a way to work off some of the festive period excesses. There might be a few people at the front of the race taking it seriously, but the rest of the field won’t be.

Added: for a lot of people it’s their first race or the only race they do all year, so abilities are very mixed.

Yeah, I came up behind you and said "I think we've met before but I can't remember your name".

The results are usually published a couple of days after the race. It's all done by the same volunteers who organised and marshalled the race, so takes time.

Replying to this for Freddie and it doesn't look like he did.

Freddie and I teamed up.

He started, and got a flyer up to 3rd.
Rolled a tub and handed over to me in 8th.
I got us back to 5th, where we stayed.

Was a lot more fun than I had expected. Although for a fun race, it seemed very serious

Ah good result. I’m hoping I can get a decent result on the 4th for next year.
Been a big learning curve this year and really enjoying it.

Going to be channeling Arno the Kid at Herne Hill at the end of the month.

I'm putting together a spreadsheet of London service stations with bike washing facilities - got Finsbury Park, Stamford Hill and West Norwood on there at the moment, posting here to get some more eyeballs/expertise. Aim will be to make a google maps overlay with options all over.

It's my best ever result at HHV. Not a course I traditionally go well on.

I got a flying start. Was 3rd and moving up to the front, 2nd place moved out to block me and we tangled bars.
I ate shit at quite a fast pace.
Went back to like 15th.
Somehow managed to get back on and going and move up quick before the race completely got away.
Inside the top 5 before the end of the first lap.
Then picked them off one by one.

But I feel like I had the pace to go with Alec. As I was catching him once I got to the front.

Oh well. That's racing and 2nd to Alec is fine with me

Have secured an overal league podium, and still on a battle for 2nd overall. So it's all down to the final round next week
