  • good company with some amazing stock, i think the issue is that they are either too short staffed or too embarrassed when they claim to have something in stock and dont to get in touch.

my advice for anyone buying from them, (and i will do so again) is to call them before you order and check they have the stuff in stock you want then you know from the outset how long you will have to wait.

  • I hate all the online stores who just put the stock list from their distributors online and expect you to wait till they next order in. Then bullshit you.

Was trying to get a replacement Dura Ace axle kit and spent an afternoon phoning the shops listing them for sale to be told

    "err its in our warehouse"
    "how long to ship then?"
    "oooh about a week"
"so it's in Madison's warehouse then not yours"
"No we have it in stock"
"it's their stock until you order it, please fuck off"

  • http://www.velouk.com/ Good stock of Sidis.

and the people that work there are amazing to

  • ...to what?

  • Not far wrong. Its a couple of guys in a tiny shop in a housing estate. They were my LBS as a kid, two streets away.. Took me years to accept that not all LBSs are this good.

    definite +infinity.

Yeah, great guys over the phone aswell, they helped me with my chainline situation with some free handy info.

  • I bought a wheelset from Wheelandsprocket on Ebay. Ordred it Friday morning and it arrived Monday afternoon from the States, which I thought was pretty impressive.

    60s-90s retro bits..

Not got a lot on there at the moment.. Delta brakeset, bartape, random bits and bobs really.

You can see the owner selling a used track tub for £222.21 on Ebay recently.
On this site it is a much more resonable £177.
    Massive Savings!!!!!!!!!

  • As a footnote, it gets mentioned regularly but the Cyclesurgery price match promise should allow you to get the more readily accessible bits and bobs like tools lights and locks etc in a hurry at internet prices.

  • Having alot of luck dealing with these guys at the moment. Sent me some brake levers, but declared the contents to be worth £20, and not the actual £12. This meant I would need to pay £18 in Norwegian duty to collect. I therefore told the postoffice to return to sender. Sent them an E-mail expecting the typical 'we are not responsable for local duty' reply. What I got was a 'sorry, will let you know when we recieve the parcel, re-label and re-send'. Nice service.

Shame the post office simply held onto it for a week and a half, and then resent the customs demand (WA bunch of Cs).

    http://www.petracycles.co.uk/index.php

Decent selection of bike parts (lots of small parts, hub bearings etc.), at nice prices.

  • ^^ Nice guy and fast delivery

Anybody know where I can get a nice quill stem, for about 30 squid or less? Similar to a jaguar would be cool

  • I used VeloSolo for most of the bits on my recent build - can't recommend them highly enough

Efficient. I have only used them twice for small bits, but no problems.

  • OK, my experience of online retailers:

Good: Chain Reaction, Parker International (really helpful), Wiggle, Pedal On, SJS, Hub Jub, Freemans Cycles,

Hargroves cycles: bought a road bike from them in person and they were helpful, good mechanics, and still use them for repairs etc. Not used their website though.

    Bad:
JE James (bought something, tried to cancel and they gave me bullshit about having to send it now I placed the order. Also online order was via an email with no possibility of seeing status of order etc. Phoned them up and they either ignore phone, pick it up and put it down again or get shirty).
Shiny Bikes (charged my card even though items not in stock)
    Total Cycling (same as above)

Bought a lockring tool off them, it broke instantly. They didnt even want to know.

I would chase it but for 7 quid its not worth the fuss... teach me to buy proper tools I spose.

  • I'm feeling a little left out here!

  • I'm feeling a little left out here!

Sorry! Shall add you immediately. I rely on the forum to let me know who I'm missing out. Thats my excuse, and I'm sticking to it!

    ;)

  • www.TartyBikes.co.uk recently did a superb bit of customer service for dt and I.

  • OK, they might not be the cheapest, but Wiggle.co.uk continues to impress me with great customer service, including no-questions-asked returns.
Ribblecycles.com is also reliable in my experience.

  • While searching for bars I have come across

    Velo Solo

They seem to have a variety of stuff, maybe worth a look?

  • OK, they might not be the cheapest, but Wiggle.co.uk continues to impress me with great customer service, including no-questions-asked returns.

Wiggle have been good to me with one exception - I ordered something (I forget what) that was Campagnolo and they sent me a Record pista front hub instead. I duly returned it and they sent me the same hub again. Having been through the dance once and not being able to contact a human at wiggle to explain the situation (and since the hub was worth a bit more that what I'd originally ordered) I elected to keep it. It sits even now in my spares box. I should probably sell it at some point.

  • Anyone have experience of http://www.fredstreads.com? They have some cheap OTP's but always wary of purchasing from somewhere I don't know.

  • what, no love for nippon shops?

    Track Supermarket
    Alex's Cycle

I purchased some things from both and have had no problems at all (good communicacion, fast shipping, etc.)

  • a couple more from USA:

    eBikeStop

    Every Bicycle Tire

ordered from both. good service and fast shipping.
