thanks to all tnrc for the encouragement

It was a night of mystery though - the missing left hand turn, the ghost of the headless mountain biker and my phantom badger. Strange times.
To add to that: My back pain which was bugging me for the last week was miraculously cured on one of these five hills. TNRC, is say, keeps the ostheopath away

love that gav, "due to prevailing traffic conditions". understatement of the year so far
Professional jargon, more like. ;)

Last night was brilliant - although it was certainly a step up from the Roydon jaunt. After the first hill, I was already trying to think of excuses to go home. Luckily by the last hill I was loving it. There's obviously room for some improvement!
Thanks to everyone for helping out, particularly Jonny and Tim for being the hosts with the most. Claus, thanks for setting me straight on the wrong turn and then guiding me through the dark to a battery stop - you are a legend. And Tika - we live to ride again!
See you in the Chilterns.
BTW, I was glued to the mattress this morning. Sooooo Tired.

i need to cut my hair too
i am aching all over, can't wait to go home to sleep -
• #1661
You have to get your priorities right Tika ;)
How was it? Do you think I could cope? -
• #1662
with a geared bike like me, yes. going fixed would have been madness [it is my aim though, during the day, first]
i was suffering loads on the hills and was pretty scared to go downhill. i guess that i have to get used to it. it was my first time on a geared bike and i was scared of changing gears. i did the cambersands fixed last year but i can't compare. -

I didn't realise Liverpool was that hilly:
Repost, I know.

I've got a library staff conference on the 30th, and I've entered the speed stamping competition. Could be a bit of RSI after that, so I'll have to see if my soigneur can sort me out between then and the evening ride. Drugs or massage, I'm ambivalent.
I felt totally fucking fine this morning. Not even heavy legs. Typical.
Oh, and andyp, is there some kind of (alleged) Millaresque gender reassignment going on that you're not telling us about:
I must have had the curse last night.

Glad to hear it, I was a little concerned for you.
I had a sweet ride back last night but had trouble commuting in again this morning, not my legs but concentration, as I was thinking about last night and what a cool ride it was rolling with everyone. So thanks again TNRC you are a great bunch.

I'm all about soaring highs and treacherous descents.
If I ever have a pancake flat day, it will be a sign of the impending apocalypse. Sponge my bitch up.

Did any one else dream of a 2 bananas with the initials TNRC on it? One in red biro and one slightly Jamaican looking?

All I'll say is that the gold medal standard for women in the Etape is a lot more generous than it is for men...
