I'm not Christian - I've just appropriated Lent the way Christians appropriated the winter solstice. I gave up caffeine and alcohol one year - that was interesting. Not sure how I'll manage with sugar though - I really think I'm addicted to it.

Yes, you probably are. Why don't you give up oxygen as well? That's a terrible addiction but one you must also break. Seriously though, how are you going to give up sugar? Are you going to give up all foods with added sugar in them? Surely it's impossible!

The last couple of years I've given up meat during lent, so I might as well do the same this year I suppose.
