fibrelyte in actually quite cheap shocker
Not really a shock, they're generally very reasonable. Machinist wanted £12 each to mill them from aluminium
Are they compatible between the Ventus and Ventus IIs?
Should be, they don't have the registration tongue and groove of the 3T risers (introduced as a running change on Ventus Mk1), so they are likely to twist around the Z-axis if you don't have any kind of bridge across the two extensions. I'm currently using a 3T bridge in front of my K-Edge Garmin mount, but some time I'll make something neater to combine the two

Don't want to look like a knob over there so will look like one on here instead. What sort of distance do you think is suitable for each test of position that Nutshell from TTF is on about? Are we talking 5 miles, or 10 miles, or somewhere in between?
Basically, would love to give this a go, but I am very limited for time, so hoping the answer is more like 1 mile!

As I understand it, you want your test loop to be as short as possible (say 1-2kmish?), But then you do multiple laps of each loop with each set up, and then you can look at the mean CdA and the standard deviations between runs with the same set up to see if you are getting repeatable results.
I'm struggling to find a suitable loop near me, but when I've done unsuccessful tests I've done 3 x 20minute runs with the first and last being the control position and the middle one being the test position.

He does it round Hillingdon, which can't be more than a mile?

Hillingdon, which can't be more than a mile?
Just under, I think, as a 10mile TT is 11 laps AFAIK.
-

You need to get there early as Hillingdon is often too windy to get decent data.

Good points all. Thanks!
Wouldn't be Hillingdon as too far away (time restrictions). There's a 10 course near me that's used for club TTs with 3 roundabouts in about 2 miles so could easily make up a loop of around a mile, or even just ride a mile straight then coast back for the adjustments. This would cut out any irregularities from the turn at a roundabout.
Have a half decent position, but very curious as to which set up would work for me. For years I rode with my saddle too low (not just TTing but across all bikes), it's a lot higher now but still unsure if it's still low.

Slide 40 of 48 here if anyone's interested!

Lol... he's only a kid, but what's no.29 up to??

Slide 40 of 48
This one?
Could have saved everybody that painful experience. Slideshows can fuck right off, along with about 90% of the other bullshit effects which have wrecked web design over the past decade. -

Cheers, was on a 'smart' phone that doesn't seem to let you copy image links. You could have gone backwards through the numbers BTW.....

Not enough of you people are riding fixed gear for TTs ...
For open road testing something >800m is best really. Loops of a closed circuit you can get away with less. You can do out and backs, you don't have to have a loop though.

Not enough of you people are doing aero testing so we don't have to :P

Thanks for confirming, Xavier.

Just entered the H10/22 on Good Friday and found out my 10 PB is actually 21:19, not 21:35. Whoops. Should be a nice warmup before the 300k 3Down the day after :)

You're turning into a short distance specialist

With two 10s and two HCs since 2013, I agree.

Altrincham Ravens 25 over the weekend, 56:23 on J2/9 for 5th. 104" fixed, testing out gears as that's basically half of this years National 50 course. Only ~80sec off Mark Turnbull who won it, after a ridiculous training week so pretty happy with that. They had a medium gear event as well, silly average cadence competitions hold no interest for me!

Curious as to your choice of brake: why a Monoplaner over an AX and why not something modern over both of them?
-
• #8546
velotoze eh? I have interest in those
-
• #8547
I think most people on the UK TT scene have bought some.
-
• #8548
Are they robut, the velotoze? Most things fall apart real fast.
-
• #8549
No, they are (reasonably thick) latex. They are very cheap however and should be very aero.

Oh wow, fibrelyte in actually quite cheap shocker. Suppose it's easy for them to just cut out a load in one go from some sheeting. Are they compatible between the Ventus and Ventus IIs?
