In unrelated news, I haz pointy hat. After many years of nobody making one big enough (I take a 7⅝), Bell Javelin actually fits, and quite nicely. Not horribly expensive either from http://www.fatbirds.co.uk/advancedsearch.aspx?Term=javelin
Based on tonight's performance, I don't think it's any better than my pointy head, but it might not be any worse.

What happened to a shiny head being superior without tunnel testing?
-
• #4929
Ooh same speed and the egg stays intact if its dropped, sounds like a win, even bigger if one isnt blessed with a a smooth egg!
-

Well, so far it seems that a shiny head is faster, since my H10/2 times this week were 24:01, 24:05 and 24:23, with the slow one being with the hat. However, I think the conditions might have been a bit slower tonight, based on being much faster coming back than going out, whereas on Tue and Wed I was pretty even. Optimum condition on there actually have you going faster out than back, so the further you get from that the worse it is.
Anyway, if it's only a little bit slower than a shiny head, it's a worthwhile upgrade on my other hats for those days when I want to keep my head warm.

Here is a link to my report on the Hounslow Open 25. Nothing like as interesting as the 24, and not much to tell in the fixed wheel department. We had only one non geared rider - John Beer of the Kingston Phoenix who did a steady 1.5.50., respectable for a man of his seniority.
I thought you might like to see our trike man, Mark Silver. I'd be quite interested to hear any comments on our old style racing jersey which Mark is wearing: what do you think - boringly old fashioned or attractively retro?

tl;dr "hippy looked so sexy in his lid so I thought I simply must have one!"

Don't mind that jersey although I avoid white if possible. Unfortunately everything is in white these days.

What hippy said about white... but definitely attractively retro.

Excellent, I was there and enjoyed my day even if I did sit up 700m before the finish. Saw that tandem out my warm up and I definitely like the kit.

Mad props to Hippy.
On a slightly smaller scale, is it worth the 50 minute drive down to the H10/8 to chase a fast time for a club trophy?

24.06 for my first 10 this morning, on the u7b (graveyard)
Pretty happy with that as it's not a quick course by any means - lumpy with a poor surface but not much wind today.

Just bumping the forum BAR table.

Very pleased with how my year has gone. Big PBs at both 10 and 25 miles, plus my first 50. Would love to ride another before the end of the season but there's none whatsoever within 100 miles.

Really? I need actually finish a better 50.

I don't think it's any faster than H10/1, and anyway you should have been there this afternoon, we had quick conditions for a change.

I was completely unaware of a race today, would totally have done that :(

It was in the handbook, and internet entry so you didn't even need to go to the post box.
Nick English won it with 19:31

Well, there is a 50 in Kent on August 11th, but its probably the most undulating 50 in the world.
Just found one on the H50/4 in September. Still 80 miles away tho. Hippy, you rode it back in 2010, how is it? By reading your write up on it, it seems as if its a combo of hills and flat bits.
Sad keanu makes me sad. #goodolddays
Is that how hippy looked before he began?
