Yeah the front brake cable is weird. I'm not a fan of the fork either.
I think if I put the cable in the left of the brake it'll be a bit better. Not entirely sure on whether the brake is compatible with reversing the cable.

I'm going to rock up to h10/2 assuming that its possible to enter an the interclub comp?
Yes, guests welcome as usual. Might be a few more TVT than usual, but if you get there early there should be plenty of spaces.
Tester your facial hair has more drag than your braking system.
It might if it was poking out into the airfow; being in the pocket in front of my shoulders, it actually sits in pretty still air.

25.21 tonight on h10/2, not sure I could have given it very much more, there was a small section when I was slightly below what I think my lactate threshold is but with an average hr of 171, I honestly don't think I could have done very much more tonight, more strength and speed needed if I want to go faster!
I went off 4th which was a bit nerve racking (I'm usually off last due to turning up late) and shortly before the turn I could hear a wom wom wom sound so I thought my minute man was sitting behind me, only to realise it was my wheels! :D didn't get caught in the end, and took my turbo with me so I could do a proper warm up, which I think helped a lot too.

25.21 tonight on h10/2
I thought you were a few seconds quicker than that, from my brief perusal of the timekeeper's sheet.
24:21 for me, best of the year so far on there, which is feeble but at least I'm going in the right direction. Geared down to 94" this week, and actually went quicker on Thursday than on Wednesday, usually the other way round, so even if the higher cadence isn't actually materially faster it might be better for recovery.

My stopwatch said 25.10 but I took what he said as gospel, it felt like it was a quick day given there was a stiff tailwind after the turn and with about mile to go I thought I might make it in under 25 so got very excited, we shall see later on when they get the times up.

Unlike my school reports I don't think could try harder applies, on my experience over the last few weeks my max hr is 192bpm and my anaerobic threshold sits at about 175bpm,

My stopwatch said 25.10
I thought the timekeeper's notes said 25:08, which would match your self-timing assuming you push the button after crossing the line.

^agree whatever they say goes.
My clock starts when my gps senses movement so there's probably 2 seconds of lag there, but we'll see when the times go up later.
When I asked him he seemed a little on edge, and I'd prefer him to tell me a slower time than start celebrating a faster one only for it to be ruined!

I was being a bit sarcastic. I always take the timekeeper values but having been docked almost 50 miles in a 24hr, lost a minute in a 10 and a few other bits and pieces I'll always have a look at my own records.

When I asked him he seemed a little on edge
Rightly so, our TT Instructions explicitly say
Do not stop at the finish, and do not try to talk to the finish timekeepers. They have an important job to do, and will not be helped by a crowd gathering around them pestering them for times. Your time, and everybody else's, will be shown on the result sheet after all riders have finished racing.
-

lost a minute in a 10
Those arithmetic errors are usually corrected if you draw attention to them, the spotter's notes will show the finishing order so it's usually pretty easy to see where a time would be incompatible with the order.

I don't know much about time trialing so be gentle.
I heard that it's easy to adjust a TT bike to a Tri setup. A tri setup tries to use different muscles compared to a normal road bike so you have enough power left to run after the bike ride. Is there any truth in this? If so, would it be good to have a TT/Tri bike next to a normal road bike? If I have a weekend off that could make it easier to do a long ride on Saturday on a road or fixed bike and a tri ride on Sunday. Is this true or not?
-
• #4546
I believe a 'tri' setup is moving the saddle forward to ease the hamstrings.
What's the 2nd part of your question? You want to be less sore on sunday morning, post saturdays ride? For a run, or just for another ride?
But either way, specificity. If you are doing tris and need to run after riding, then this is how you should train. So you're muscles are used to it. And look at brick sessions.

Let's say I want to do a 200k on Saturday and a 200K on Sunday. Would that be easier with the combi of a road and a tri bike? My knees won't let me run so that's out of the question. Otherwise I would train for triathlons.
-
• #4548
No. But ride 400k one weekend and 400k the next time will be less fatiguing.
Just have a bloody good stretch after, that'll do you a world of good. And eat right.
Don't bother thinking about 2 bikes. It's silly, not being rude, just straight. -
• #4549
Thank you for the reply. I'm going to buy my first roadbike after my holiday. I'm doing all my rides fixed and I like to do longer distances. TT sounds like fun though. I've seen it on video's and it's attracting me more then normal road races.

I believe the point of a tri setup is to put more emphasis on hamstrings and less on quads as its the quads which are the key muscle in running.
Anyway, turns out the timekeeper was right, rider number 4 did do it in 25.21 however I was rider number 3 so I did 25.08. I'm now not sure about going back for a few weeks so I can get some more training in and move under 25 for sure as looking at the data the time I got was all I can really hope to get out of myself in my current condition!
Is that how it's supposed to be set up? Tester your facial hair has more drag than your braking system.
