True, the scope for error is there.
But then, what's more valuable, road or tunnel?
^^ And that's with the non fc zipp.
There's not much in it really, and the Hed looks cooler. Plus hutch is on a hed and that says enough. Or that hed give them to him. But I doubt he'd ride them if worried. -
• #4104
Each has limitations but the tunnel is more accurate as you can't totally eliminate wind from outdoor tests.
They're both good. If you want to ride a HED3 buy a HED3.
-
• #4105
No. But then it's normally windy outside!
What've you got? You upgraded irrc? -
• #4106
One other thing to consider is the HED 3s work best with skinny tyres.

I've got a SRAM S80 which is basically an older, non-dimpled 808. I'm looking to get an 808 FC to replace it.
-
• #4108
Benefit of a 808FC over a hed 3 is that you can optimum aerodynamics with a bigger tyre, which I think is why Tester wants to get the Zipp over his current trispoke.
-

If you're only going to get one front wheel, get a Hed3. They are bomb proof, cheap (compared with Zipps, anyway), very nearly as fast in any conditions as anything else out there, very forgiving of cross wind and you can easily sell it to a hipster when you get bored with it.

Entered the De Laune CC open 10 on the Q10/24 this Sat. Will be my first "open" event and also first TT on a course that isn't Bexley. Should be interesting, hopefully the weather won't be as shitty as it is today...
You can try it out on a Tuesday evening if you want http://www.gravesendcc.org.uk/tens/Tens.htm 19:15 start

Get Schick onto this:
http://www.zipp.com/_media/productreviews/tour%20mag.pdfDo you need anything translated in this?
-
• #4113
Nah, I've already decided on another 808. skinny might?

I googled the important words and then extrapolated.

I hope you cleaned up after yourself.

Isn't there an english translation of the text at the bottom??
-

PDFs take it personally when you talk about their bottoms. I'd keep your voice down.

What is the OP on?He buys both pairs, despite being able to get the FC for a similar price to the HED and then sells the best set without even trying them out?

Finally rode out for my first 10 at Navestock last night. Left work at 5pm and 20 miles and 2 hours was all it took...Ended up getting home at 10pm so was a long day.
Been off the training and on the booze for the last few weeks as my Bro was over from Oz, so there's a lot of work needed to improve. I rode on my Lo Pro and did 26'53 which I was fairly pleased with as a first shot.
Lots to focus on - positioning, pacing, cornering (for this 10 in particular), and just general strength. Need to work out a way of getting there and not being knackered when I arrive.
Onwards and upwards.

So is the specialised Tri spoke essentially a Hed?
Some say yea but... -

So is the specialised Tri spoke essentially a Hed?
No, A Hed3 is essentially a Specialized. Specialized designed it back in about 1880, subcontracting the materials science to DuPont, so you sometimes see them with DuPont stickers too. Steve Hed bought the moulds when Specialized stopped making them. The rim and spoke shape is unchanged in decades, although Hed have made a few changes to the hub over the years.

So it would be just as good, as long as it's true.
From an aerodynamic perspective? -
• #4124
Here's one I've never seen before; a shallow rim 650C/26" front:

From an aerodynamic perspective?Yes. I have a Specialized and a Hed here in front of me and the rims and spokes are indistinguishable.
Guess what? According to Mavic their wheels are fastest..
