  • Maybe I'll just go see scherrit again. That might be the best in the long run.

  • "...Either we're missing some information about you or you're missing the 3 years or so it will take to learn to ride a time trial and adapt to a TT position."

Come on, three years to learn to ride a time trial and adapt to the right position... Fuck that! You might never learn to perfect the art, but with the right guidance, time, and effort, presuming for the sake of argument you're in good shape and a trained rider up front, you'll be there in a month.

  • £75 goes a fair way towards something like an 8v Vento: worth a punt or should I DIY something out of estate agents' signs?

  • You should get on your bike instead - cheaper&faster <3

  • You didn't enter the 2-up at Manston in the end then Jamie? I see your Dad is down. Will be a balmy 6 degrees come Monday!

  • Yeah I do get that it's far from simple, even with experience.

But for instance, how would I decide if I get a L or XL planet x exocet. Or is it just trial ad error.

    I'm 6' 2" and I got a Large Planet X

*I'm still quicker on my fixed Raleigh though * :)

Does that mean shimmy = faster?

  • Does that mean shimmy = faster?

:D no probably means I have forgotten how to ride gears :)

Actually the 175 cranks just feel wrong I have a set of 170's to go on it this year so my set up is the same as the Raleigh.

  • No, there is a chance I will be at work on Sunday and possibly into the early hours, so didnt want to let A.N.Other down. If it was a solo I would have entered and chanced it.

Best of luck and say hello to old man if you spot him.

  • I did spot him, but he was warming up and I was on the start line. If you speak to him, he will tell you that it was bloody windy!

    It's cheaper to pretend it's actually 170mm.

  • First cheque for 2013 written..

  • I miss cheques...

  • I missed the start of the season, was hoping to have magically become fitter, but I passed the start of the Hounslow Wheelers 10 on my way home and had a chat with the unofficial timekeeper. I set off on the outward bound leg of the course to continue on my way and it reinforced just how much faster these guys are. The front two riders on the return leg were going faster uphill than I was going down with the wind behind me.

So, into the drops this morning to try and stretch out my position and not a bad thing with that head wind. I tried to ignore the other riders and tell myself that 15mph was OK for my 25 mile pace and also tried not to recall the advice on the Hounslow Wheelers site for newbies that can't cut the pace to join the LCC instead. But where the hell does all the snot come from?

  • The more snot that leaves the body, the more room there is for Essence of Awesome to enter.

You must be doing something right!

  • Was happy to receive the result sheet for the comp I wasn't even entered into as my club hadn't paid its affiliation, at least now I know that's where my £8 went............................................

  • Rode the Bristol south 25 on u17 this afternoon, managed a 1.04.35 which I am pretty pleased with for my first ever (non hill climb) tt.

Disc wheel, pointy hat and skinsuit now on the shopping list :-)

  • My disc wheel, pointy hat and skinsuit led me to a 2.22.16 on the circuit of the dales. (After having to turn round to pick up my pitstop and pump, then the terrible road surface vibrating my front shifter loose and having to hold it in place for the last 20 miles). Quite happy considering..

  • Still got dropped by Richard Handley though.

  • Forum BAR happening this year?

  • Make it happen - create a fresh copy of the spreadsheet and we'll start filling in our times as they happen

  • Good timing. I'm just deciding which 100 to enter...

  • oooh... if theres one at a convenient day I might enter one too... won't be fixed though.

  • I may do one on my beater for shits and giggles.

  • Hey everyone,

I hope you're all having a lovely evening. I've never done any road racing (I don't even own a road bike) or TTing on fixed. But, I raced at the Open Season event at Herne Hill last weekend. It was my first time properly racing on the track and I actually had quite a bit of success and did a lot better than I thought I would. I got 2nd (out of 32 riders) in the 900m TT with a time of 1:07.22. However, I didn't have pursuit bars or a fancy disc wheel. Does stuff like that even make that much of a difference or matter at all across such a small distance? What sort of change in time, if any, should I expect if I upgraded my equipment?

    Thanks,
    Joseph
