When I raced last year, they just handed us a packet of numbers and then we stuck them in a bucket at the finish.

I read that 2 riders have lost their lives in time trials this past week, tragic.
That's horrible for it to happen again. I remember a spate of such deaths about 14-15 years ago, including Zak Carr.
RIP riders.

Since I'm an old cunt now, should I join VTTA?

should I join VTTA?
Only if you can't qualify to ride on your favourite course on scratch.
-
• #19556
I don't need to qualify, I just wave my "do you know who I am" card at organisers and they let me in for some drama or LOLs depending on what I break.
I'm just thinking I could double my chances of winning something if I joined, ie. I might win my entry fee back.

• #19557
They few vets events I've ridden this year had insanely fast podiums, so on quick courses I'd probably lower that doubling of chances somewhat.
-
• #19558
Yeah, I was always getting spanked by vets but when I did do a decent ride I'd get fuck all and some vets would still pick up prizes so I'm kinda like "why not?" Then again I only race one event a year.
Tim McEvoy and Darren Yarwood are both Vets and faster than me.

Most events that give Vets prizes don't care whether you're a VTTA member or not, it's generally only VTTA promotions where it matters.

I was emailed specifically and asked whether I wanted to join which was what prompted this. It's for the Breckland / Nat 12hr

I noticed the racers in the 'lympics have Giro Aerohead visors that have side vents in them. Are they a new thing?

There was chat about their track bikes ages ago:
https://www.lfgss.com/comments/15032117/Guess they didn't get the road version done in time.

I think these look awesome but £12-15000 initially only in a M/L. No bold aero claims so far only that it should be competitive with the best frames currently out there but as usual the non UCI tri version should be a little quicker so may appeal to UK testers. I guess the UK will be where most of their sales will come from?

For a uk company this looks relatively decent value £10500 with axs 1x and enve 7/disc and a reasonable lead time

That out of line head tube would do my head in.

Its just that the bike isn't inline
Lazy photographer

And the tt bars don't look level. Really sloppy photo. I'm pretty sure their moulds are square

• #19569
They've just been riding it on UK TT courses...

A bit like their stock track bike image which uses a dented rear disc!
Northern engineers in not giving a shit about aesthetics shocker.

(photo of fat, haggard, forlorn man sitting in back of car goes here)
(explanation to partner that the 301 miles on Garmin was well after the 12hr timer had stopped goes here)
"How far did you go?" - question from org or helper
"2fucking99" - reply from the hairy shitbag rider"Probably shouldn't have stopped to adjust those brakes, eh?"
"Hmm" -

From TT forum it looks like you've got it, no?
Won't those distances increase a bit as they add on the bit after the final TK?
Garmin generally under records as it cuts corners. We know this from Hillingdon TTs.Anyway, massive congratulations, 299 and a bit is an incredible distance, never mind 300!
-
• #19573
Results show 300.56 dude!
-
• #19574
I'm still waiting for final results. They've only done prelim distances so far (except maybe for the winners).

I thought they were distances at the last TK and I rode past two to make sure I didn't fuck something up.
Garmin generally under records as it cuts corners.
I would love it if that was the case.
Pre registering was a new thing out here in the provinces. So you’re only paying/signing/takinganumber at hq.
You just register your details once per season.
