They are laying on transport to take the girls back from the finish to HQ on Saturday evening - they are apparently worried about tired riders negotiating the hill at dusk!!!

Just back from the ladies National 50 - Mrs S 7th in 1.58.00, and team winner. MDCC off in the mens tomorrow morning - have a good ride fella!

DId you enjoy the East Peckham 10 this week, Steve (FWN)?
I couldn't make it for that one, but 2 weeks back I went round on 82" in 25:31. What gear did you use?

Cheers, and I did, by my standards. 2:9:20, knocking a massive 27s off my PB. Up at the sharp end, Hutch won by just over 2 minutes with 1:38:55
Shaw won the women's race with 1:46 something, possibly a Comp. Record

Hutch's crazy 100 http://www.hounslowanddistrictwheelers.co.uk/news/09/open_100.html
I've got my first 50, the WLC 50 on 27th June. I'd like to do a 100 as well but I'm not sure there's any that are riding distance from Ealing.
Sunday 4th July is the Hounslow and District Wheelers' '100' on the H100/8 (Froyle, nr. Bentley). is about 50mi away and not the kind of warmup I'd need for a 100. :S

Was back on the E2/25 in Newmarket yesterday.. Week before did 55.41. Bit windy and 20 seconds off a PB.
Yesterday it pissed down and was crazy windy. 26min something to the turn around and then 29min on the way back into one of them bastard standstill headwinds with the rain flaying my skin.. Still pretty happy with a short 56.. Still on the hunt for a 54...

It was a bit windy, I used the 90" gear again did a miserable 25:50 on the Southborough Wheelers Tuesday night and then a more respectable 25:15 on the Sydenham Wheelers Thursday night event.
I'll have another go on West Kingsdown Q10/26 Wednesday night :D
Just entered the Thanet RC 25 and Gravesend 25 in July

Hoping to enter this if the diary permits - it'll be my first ever competitive riding in any discipline so glad it's only 10 miles. I'll be doing it fixed too so expect to come last by a very large margin! At least I'll be guaranteed a PB :)
What clubs are you guys members of? I was thinking of joing Rollapaluza as I only need membership to tick a box and enter and it seems pretty cheap - unless there's anything else I should consider?

Just got back from my first 10, did 28:34. Unfortunately turned up at the wrong route and had to ride hard for 12 miles to make the actual start, plus the 10 it took us to get to the wrong start in the first place.
Bags of fun though, roll on next tuesday.

I've just entered a 100 mile solo TT.. wtf was I thinking?
I hope there's a pub on the course.

If there's one at the end you'll do well.

Ha! You assume I'd make it to the end.

They both have had their positions done in the same wind tunnel. Same reason they have both started wearing those ridicuous knee length lycra "shinguards"
It is interesting to look at the positions of Hutch and Shaw, the two outstanding riders at the National 10 - both are very similar, and both are very different to the other leading lights:
Notice how both have their arms angled up, almost parallel to the plane of their torsos. Neither are particularly flat or low. Both appear slightly forward. And on Sunday both won by a country mile.
I've had a look both at a GPX file and the first part of the course (up to where it joins the A3) on Google street view. As far as I can tell, the gift hill is not as steep as the Marlow bypass, so I'm hoping I won't even need the brake, as I sometimes do at Marlow if the wind is in the wrong direction.
Hillbrow to the bottom of the dip is 79m drop in the first 3.8km compared with 100m in 2.7km at Marlow, unless anybody knows different. Obviously there are some interesting junctions to negotiate at Sheet, so that should add to the fun :-)
The organiser seems to think fixed riders only real problem will be getting back to the HQ after finishing, as the elevation change has to be handled in a much shorter distance going back up.
