  • can't you get some special pens from japan? yasimax inkys i think they are called there's some shop that sells them but it's really hard to find they do all the colours to match the keirin race jerseys (including white obviously).
so fans can get autographs from their favorite riders in the correct colour. there is even a tiny njs logo on the inside of the lid.

  • Multi coloured NJS pens?

I firmly said jokes after advice

  • what has njs got to do with aerospokes anyway?

  • I was talking to Fred about this a while back as my red spok needs a little touching up.
He suggested going to a model shop and getting umbrol paints, they should let you take the colour outside so you can match it up in the daylight etc.
Havent got round to it yet, but thats what I'm gonna try.

  • Modelzone on Shaftesbury (Holborn end) have have the small pots of white model paint...
and while you're there check out the radio controlled cars.

  • Anyone got any advice on painting aerospoke wheels ?
ive had mine a couple of days now and they have started to chip.
I dont think white was the best choice of colour so i want to try and paint then black.

  • Ask Mick Jagger.

  • asm has special aerospoke paint stuff that looks the bollocks, and he has it in loads of colours, drop him a pm

  • thanks for the help guys

  • Go to a hobby/model shop. They are full of geeks who are extremely experienced at creating good paint finishes on plastic/composite materials. Theyll sell all the bits you need too.

  • Have your wheels powder coated aerospoke wheels are a blend of carbon fiber and nylon, and they can be powder coated at the correct temps

  • ^don't listen to him^

sell them and get some decent wheels. Or buy black ones.

what do you think is going to happen once the black chips?

and how have you chipped them - nothing should come in to contact with the rim / wheel!?

  • live and learn

  • I did a pair of spinergy carbon composite wheels.
I started with good sanding all over, to ruff up the surface.
Then a good clean with a degrease agent.
Then tape up, the parts you don’t want to spray.

Spray with a plasti kote or similar spray.
Keep your distance and hang wheel outside or in a garage, leave plenty of space so you can move around wheel.
Spay thin coats slowly, don’t rush build up painted surface slowly. It’s important to take your time so you get a smooth finish, let paint dry for a few hours don’t be tempted to take down until paint has completely dried

Or alternatively take to a paint shop.

its stone chips more than anything but where the breaking surface has started to come away the cracks have moved down on to the actual spoke part of the wheel.
As for painting them black i understand there going to chip again but it wont look as bad as on the white wheels.
