Saw someone say that Paul landed something like 8 punches, 3 of them putting the lad down. Christ almighty he went down like a sack of spuds on the last one. Didn’t seem with it enough to continue when the ref gave him a standing 8 count either - was stalling completely.

Maybe you are right, but NBA star fighting a youtuber? How much does that really do for the sport? It looked more like an MMA fight and he's calling out Conor Mcgregor now isn't he?

Again, I’d very much agree.
I think the reality/ celebrity stuff exposes the ugly side of boxing that would usually be confined to a small crowd in a leisure centre. -

McGregor usually fights at 155 but has fought at 170 (stupidly), while Paul weighed in at 189 - which gives +34lbs and a definite size advantage to Paul. I reckon that would make the spectacle of him getting sparked out cold very watchable. On YouTube the next day that is, you’d be a fool to tune in for it on a PPV.

Interesting. I work in TV transmission so have seen the fights from last night about 4 times already!
Do you think Dubois needed more fights leading up to this or was he simply outboxed?

I'm not massively up on my current boxing knowledge, but were people expecting Dubois to walk it or something? Both undefeated as professionals, someone had to lose! He was walking into that jab all fight. While Dubois was up on the scorecards, Joyce was still landing. I wonder if Joyce's detractors just don't like his slow punching, or just assume that he's not any good because he doesn't seem to snap very viciously. Joyce was an Olympic silver medallist after all, and had a long and successful amateur career, while Dubois barely had any and sacked off the Olympics to go pro.

I dunno guess I just liked the prospect of fresh British fighter with a longer future, I also like him as an individual took up boxing as a kid and was humble in all the post fight interviews I've seen of him. Kind of wanted him to come away with the win.

Dubois was favourite for the fight but people did think he taken this fight perhaps too soon, which with hindsight looks to be the case. Joyce kept him at reach with a metronomic jab, wearing him down and he didn’t seem equipped to overcome it.
I also thought every time he went for some power punches he took and age to recover - I hadn’t seen that before with Dubois but maybe bc he’s already sparked them by then

BJS vs Martin Murray on Friday.
I thought Murray had retired, looking on Box rec, both have been out of the ring for over a year. -
• #1486
Cue a narrow BJS points win, lots of talk about BJS fighting up to his opponents and him calling out Canelo/saying he wants the big names.
Then, four/five months out, ballooning up in weight and the sage repeats itself. Such a waste of talent.

Pulev riling up Joshua at the weigh in. Joshua by TKO in the 6th or 7th round I reckon... completely baseless prediction that.
-
• #1489
Pulev isn’t a walk over. I’d expect a Joshua win but Pulev has a reasonable record.
-
• #1490
What time does it start? Anyone worth watching on the undercard?
-
• #1491
I’d expect about 10, Hughie Fury vs Wach might be entertaining.

I did enjoy the good walk away afterwards.

It's just a matter of time, surely?

As soon as they can fill a stadium I’d imagine.
Unusual that the fighter with more belts, better record/ resume will go in as underdog to a unification fight.
Does anyone see a way that Joshua can win...? -

He still has the power to ko him. Its the heavyweights, anything can happen.
I’d agree it could have been stopped earlier.
