  • Was full already

  • If you've got bag loops on yer saddle, this is handy: http://www.carradice.co.uk/index.php?page_id=product&under=range&product_id=136

Though if you're fully loaded on a tour I would recommend something more substantial that doesn't put stress onto the saddle rails.

  • @jupiz I have one of these hanging around I'd be happy to move on if you want. PM me if you're keen.

  • Using it for credit card tour. Above looks good, but might as well get a bagman then I suppose. Was just going to use a normal rack but I think my saddles too high.

  • (Lost to previous page so reposting)

    Or DIY/bodge something:-

  • Cheers, looks interesting

  • With the Camper I would just get a nice light rack like a Fly - support where you need it and multi-use ability.

  • I had a Fly but I got rid of it in favour of a Tortec Tour Ultralite as I wanted to be able to use a rackpack sometimes and you can't with a Tubus Fly (the top section is too thin and the rackpack just flops to one side). The Tortec is only 150g heavier than the Fly.

Also, the single bracket to the seat stays on the Tubus Fly makes it less solid/stable. The Fly was fine up to 10kg or so but more than that and it was creaking and making me feel nervous.

  • All true, but if it's main purpose is to support a big saddle bag it'll do nicely.

  • Was thinking about the tortec ultralite but wasn't sure it would work with an 810-815 saddle height? Academic now as got the saddlebag carrier curtesy of @hamrack

  • Just been down to Condor and acquired a Nelson Longflap made by Keely.

    Plus a bagman QR.

Going riding tomorrow, slow route from Walthamstow to Suffolk coast. Can't wait.

  • Thought I'd post in here first to check - Looking for a bagman QR expedition if anyone has one to sell on.
    Thanks

  • Need to check whether mine is Keely or Kelly - I see that Keely is not currently on the roll call:

    30 x Sue
    14 x Priscilla
    11 x Debby
    10 x Janet
    9 x Andrea
    7 x Christine
    6 x Emma
    5 x Susan
    3 x Kelly
    2 x Margareta
    1 x Debi
    1 x Gill
    1 x Vicky

  • Am a happy inheritor of andy_k's Super-Sue Audax, but I think it's already on the list. No name on my Carradry saddle bag, sadly.

After a Nelson Long Flap to do me for day-to-day cruising and shopping, Think a Camper might be overkill

  • I have loads of Carradice stuff and none of them are on that list.

    Zero fucks given.

  • Rebel Rebel

  • I have an old Nelson Longflap on a Bagman QR Expedition, but when loaded with anything remotely weighty it's rubbing on my rear wheel as it flexes. I've seen the various bodges to stop the Bagman bending & flexing... Any other top tips?

    It's frustrating because it's nearly a perfect commute/weekend tour solution. :(

  • Get the lightest rear rack you can find - like the tubus fly.

  • +1 I use a pannier rack (without bagman).

  • Thanks chaps. Got it - remove the bagman metal loop and use the quick release mechanism for securing it at the seat - always got the option of attaching stuff to the racks if I need to carry more...

  • Anyone ever tried using the Barley as a handlebar bag? Am mulling it over - I have a zipped roll I can use instead, but might want the extra space for a trip I'm planning.

  • Don't see why it wouldn't work, just use longer straps for the bars and headtube. The ones I got with my zipped roll were way too short, so just used some chunky cable ties sheathed in a butchered inner tube for frame protection.

  • Paul of grassupthemiddle uses longflap at front. Sure Barley could be used likewise
