It doesn't really affect function if that's your concern?

From bagman to sagman
I just let mine dangle in a sagman style now I'm getting older.

Bagman QR is the one!

Does anyone know where I can get a Camper Longflap in green for less than £80? Birthday present for my dad. It’s sold out at SJS and Spa and £96 from Carradice seems excessive.

Depending on how long you have you can keep an eye on their factory shop on ebay

I used my bagman on the Great North Trail in August with a Nelson Longflap with tent and all the trimmings. No issues on rough descents.
About 10 years ago I once had a screw work loose during a ride (not the centre one but one of the side ones) and the thing disintegrated onto my back wheel. But I check the screws are tight from time to time now and it has never happened again.
I've also used a rack for support plenty of times. I think the rack is actually slightly lighter and more versatile, but I prefer the bagman if only hauling Carradice as, especially if there is not much in it, the bag can sometimes slip down at one side on a rack.

Looks like it's on backorder at most places unless you want to pay RRP (and even then lots of them don't have stock). Cheapest I found it allegedly available was here: https://www.freemanscycles.co.uk/carradice-camper-longflap-saddlebag.html (£86).

Saving £16 on a pressie for your dad? He must have brought you up well. Just pay it.
It’ll be an online transaction.
You’ll never notice and you won’t feel a cheap skate. -

Appreciate the sentiment - could you send me the difference? You know - because you'll never notice it and all.
And thanks @aggi and @Thrustvector - much appreciated.

the seatpost size is 30.8 so a relatively rare size...
What frame is this?

Bagman QR is the one!
You might be right.
Really quite fancy doing this though...

I got a Carradry saddle bag for my birthday but when fitted to the saddle it sits a long way forward and under the saddle so it rubs constantly on my thighs, so looking for a bagman support. there is an expedition one on eBay- is this suitable?
-
• #1614
This looks good! Did you make it?
-
• #1615
There are two sizes, expedition is bigger. The Carradice website tells you which size is suitable for which bag. But I use the expedition on a smaller bag without problem. It works well

My friend has one and uses the sport I think...
Edit : ^
Have found the 9l audax to be perfect for most the riding I'm doing. I only overfilled it occasionally. Am tempted to buy a 2nd one next summer and mount it to the bars for single night trips. I've seen the Kickflix used up thread, what other options for mounting to bars are there? The sensible option is to buy a handlebar bag of course.

It's an Argos 725 audax frame

Not yet.
Been busy putting my cargo bike together. Need to fire up the torch today or tomorrow to make a light mount though so might crack on with this at the same time.

Looks amazing- good luck avoiding the sag!

Not an obscure tube set. Are you sure it/s not 30.9 which is quite common?
-
• #1621
My mistake, the seatpost is actually 30.0 - I got an inline thomson but still doesn't bring the saddle far forward enough to put a bagman qr on...
Could use this, but not the neatest solution: https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/saddles/vk-saddle-adjuster/

I use this with a Barley - bag is well out of the way

I can't remember which one I bought in the end, but a word of warning: the flap on the underside of the bag is not so strong. The seams on mine tore on both sides after a year or so of everyday use. You'll also want to find a way of fixing the bottom of the bag to the rack to stop it bouncing around. I used a small length of bungee cord and a hook.

It looks like you need metal saddle loops to hang it off? And then it straps round the seatpost but not the rails?
-

Having an SQR block bolted directly on to a frame or seatpost (à la Brompton block) would be a nice touch on a custom frame.
Will give it a shot - cheers! seems a shame to let is sag as it looks so good with the bagman...
