The search begins for MTB components this morning.
I do believe there is a fully functional Emmelle mountain bike sitting in our back yard!!!

Fully functioning might be pushing it a bit! But still... goes to see what parts can be scrounged

Get a kona p2 fork, but if you have a rigid mountain bike, you will need to upgrade your face with a goatee it is the law.

How many times are we going to have this conversation? For the last time I'm getting a suspension fork! I just cant bring myself to grow a goatee :p
There really is nothing that could be scrounged from that bike, apart from maybe the wheels, but I wouldn't trust them...

You will regret it when the bike weighs a ton and goes bouncy bouncy when rinding out of the seat :=P

Did I mention lockable suspension last night? I'm pretty sure I did :p
For the time being the forks are going to be the only part I spend much on, so hopefully get some decent ones that wont be like being on a bouncy castle. All the rest will be cheap jobbies. -

Thought this is the manual for the original fork
Something like this will be you best bet. Locking Suspension can be pricey

This is true, I priced everything up on chainreaction and it was gonna cost almost £500 for all the cheapest parts!! Hence my decision to try to find cheaper second hand stuff. Already ordered a triple chainset and 8 speed cassette, and got a chain from pifko for free!! Didn't go for holotech though, sorry to disappoint again...

Wait a sec, I want to get rid of my suspension forks and replace them with rigid forks and you want a pair of sus forks ....
Do u want the sus forks that are current on my Hawk Hill? (if they are the right size).
EDIT: Headset is 1 1/8th so they will fit the frame.

BTW that 8 speed cassette won't work with those shifters. It a 7 speed shifter.

Technically it will. ;)
-
• #418
yeah but it might make a really nasty grinding technical noise when the chain dosent connect properly cos it will only adjust so well.......ss it I reckon
-
• #419
What? Just set the derailleur limit to not use the largest or smallest sprocket, there you'll effectively have a 7 speed sprocket. Spacing is the same between 7 and 8.

... you told me it was 8 speed. Now I'm gonna look like a right looser with only 7 gears! Although the smallest sprocket is 11t on that cassette so I think I can get away without using that. Sounds like a good call on the forks though.
J, don't you have a geared MTB?
-

yeeeeeeeeeep, just done a 28 k race on it, what dya need? some v brakes and stuff here.

Yeah well give me another £20 for the forks, that means I can buy a kona p2 from fleabay and I am sorted .... I just need to grow the goatee.
BTW Davy We have about 4 or 5 mountain bikes worth of bits in my garage ... though it is worth talking to my dad if you come round because he will tell you want he wants for his Diamond Back.

Sounds good to me, now I just need to carry about some little steel rods to make it "lockable"!

Rather you than me! :p

I don't think my mother would be at all happy with me if I bought another bike and left the frame I have in the house, unfinished. Still need to get things like headset, stem, bars, saddle...
nah, just kidding. I got quite a few bits you can most probably have-super cheap, give me a shout if you want to stop by.
mtbo at gore heath tomoz if anyone up for a change.
